On the MMA beat Luke Thomas stated a plausible theory regarding why the UFC made the Rousey vs Holm fight.
With all the Mayweather, Rousey talk. Dana wants to capitalize by putting Holms, a decorated legit boxer vs Rousey in order to showcase the superiority of MMA over boxing
It's a very solid theory IMO 
And it's fucking stupid. Everyone knows holm isn't ready and by putting her out to pasture now, just for his own personal gain, he killed off a potential contender later down the line. If he wants to prove rousey is such a dominant fighter, have her face the one woman EVERYONE believes could pose a major threat to her in Cyborg.
Or you know...no one wants to see Rhonda beat Meisha a 3rd time.

Sounds pretty silly. Superiority of MMA over boxing in an MMA fight? Yeah, obviously MMA is gonna be superior to boxing in an MMA fight, even most boxers will tell you that.
Just like most MMA guys will tell you boxing is superior to MMA in a boxing ring.
This whole boxing vs MMA thing is stupid.
The UFC know they can sell the fight with all the boxing accolades Holm has and they also know it will most likely be an easy 1 round win for Rousey
