Lars Wallin BJJ in Los Angeles?

Anyone know who he is under? Apparently he's a Swedish Black Belt teaching at Lb4Lb Boxing on La Cienega (in L.A.)

Clearly he trained at Gracie Torrance, but is not listed as a Black Belt under them.

He looked like he knew what he was doing in his clips, I'm just curious who he got his BB from, because it says nothing on his site (vikingbjj.com) .

Don Mega, anyone...?

Just curious.

As i heard, he got it from Royce at Torrance. I asked this question before but i never got any confirmation from the real source...

i heard he just put it on when he got back from sweden.
he was a brown belt when he left gracie torrance.

I have heard 2 versions of the story:

1)He was a brown belt at Gracie Torrance and when he went back to Swedan he put the black belt on himself.

2)He was a brown belt at Gracie Torrance and after he left he was promoted to black belt by Royce.

I'm not really sure which, if either, is true. Maybe someone can ask Royce for confirmation.

royce just said keep an eye on him

interesting...

pat king was in the same position as lars (royce leaving the academy)pat is a certified bb at gracie torrance because royce gave him his bb.

Actually, he has like a couple websites(www.vasterasbjjteam.se / vikingBJJ.com / Youtube channel, etc)) and there is a lot of info until brown belt. Then he makes a few vague references to "creating his own style".I could be wrong, but I DON'T think he is talking about his own game, I think he means his own style of grappling, though he calls it BJJ --That's just the way I read it.

If you are going to have information dense websites all about you & your BJJ, you would think you would mention your teacher who gave you the blackbelt.

If Royce Gracie gave you your black belt, you would CLEARLY state "Royce Gracie gave me my black belt" on your website --especially if, like this guy, you make frequent reference to each of the Gracies and Torrance Gracie and you wear "Gracie T-shirts" in your instructional clips, etc. He obviously respects/idolizes the Gracies, so if Royce gave him a BB, he would mention it, right?

I don't know...

I remember them both from Torrance.

Both were very nice and more than willing to help everyone (including the newbs), Lars had a touch of an ego it seemed.

Exaaaactly

isn't this the guy who has a cousin who competes in the strongest man competitions?

I heard of him, he gives out belts really easy.  He should really consider to change his marketig too, hisline "Points are for pussies" is stupid.

Shen..

He is claiming that he is a black belt under Royce Gracie...

maybe it is now,but when he 1st put it on,he wasnt.

I guess that there is not soo many BJJ black belts in Sweden, is this gonna heat up the jiu jitsu in the land of the vikings?

He is living in America and has for a long time (over 10 years) he is in Sweden and givies seminar sometimes a year, he has a couple of schools in Sweden. He write sometimes at a swedish mma forum and from what i have read there he has a very strong opoinion about most of todays grappling, he seems to think that almost everyone almost only grappling for point in competion and stuff like that. And we have at least 15 black belt here in Sweden from different linage (brasa,gracie-barra,BTT etc)

Lars is freakishly strong. I had a few opportunities to train with him years 10+ ago and he seemed to use technique as opposed to strength while sparring.

there are no real established standards set for receiving a BB in BJJ as far as I've seen.

Promoting your self to a black belt or market your self as a black belt and not hold the title is properly the worst way to goo...
