Local favorite Joe Lauzon will be featured in a key matchup on the Sept. 5 UFC card at Foxwoods Resort Casino, fighting "Ultimate Fighter" reality show winner Michael Chiesa in a battle of submission wizards, the Herald has learned.
The lightweight tilt will mark the Bridgewater product's first fight since a convincing unanimous decision win over Mac Danzig in December and the birth of Lauzon's first child.
Chiesa, based near Seattle, won the tournament on Season 15 of the UFC's signature "Ultimate Fighter" reality show in 2012, and has gone 3-1 in the Octagon since. He most recently defeated Francisco Trinaldo in a commanding performance on May 24 at UFC 173.
Hopefully joe can fight off the home town nerves, he looked like he was having a panic attack walking out on the Boston card and it showed in the fight big time. Who wins depends on which joe shows up.
