The Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday acquired veteran center Ron Francis from the Carolina Hurricanes for a fourth-round pick in the 2005 Entry Draft. Francis has 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 67 games this season.

Francis waived a no-trade clause to join the Leafs.

Francis, 41, is a left-handed center, joining Toronto's southpaw centers Joe Nieuwendyk and Robert Reichel. Captain Mats Sundin is a right-handed shot. Francis gives the Maple Leafs a formidable quartet on faceoffs. He has a 56 percent success rate this season while Nieuwendyk is at 60 percent, Reichel wins 54 percent of his draws and Sundin has a 53 percent success rate.
