Chris Leben's struggle with drug abuse has been somewhat well documented, but after his recent retirement he spoke more in depth on the subject. Here is a snippet from a recent interview with Frank Trigg:

“It really is better now. The bottom line is, especially with all the illegal drugs, I was spending all the money I was making anyways. Six in one, half dozen in the other. I used to fight, the way I fought, I didn’t give a shit. ‘Fuck this, I could die tomorrow, let’s go out there and I’m gonna fucking kill this guy!’ That fire, I’d be lying if I said that fire was still in me these past couple fights. It hasn’t been. I hate to admit it, but shit’s going okay at home. My life’s alright. I’m a lot more of a mellow guy. Just getting older I guess. I don’t even know. I don’t know how to explain it.”
Ahh yeah the suboxone exemption. Forgot about that. that stuff is very strong. Its to help people come off heroin and strong opiates. Couldve been a heroin addiction. I just don't see all that money going to pain pills.
Joshua King - He was the first and only guy in the UFC with a tue for suboxone. Next gen methadone clinics.
He has been popped for oxycodone and oxymorphone as well with whatever he got popped for after the bisping fight.
Once he got that TUE for subs, I didn't see him lasting much longer but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that if and when he gets absolutely clean (aside from THC) he'll have that fire again.
Suboxone totally kills people's motivation. They aren't themselves while prescribed it. I too believe that the stuff is the real reason he seems to have "lost the fire".
Im only very low dose of sub, 1mg day and I don't see the lack of motivation . Finding it very hard to drop of completely from it though. I agree its very strong stuff

You realize people put $500 a DAY into pain pill habits sometimes right? This habit doesn't take days off, thats 180k a year right there.
"Couldve been a heroin addiction"
You do realize that pain pillers switch to heroin when they cant afford the pain pills anymore and need a cheaper opiate?

I agree I'm almost off it and have been for 2 years about, very negative but now I'm almost off I feel like I used to
