Leben tests positive = :(

News of Leben testing positive = sad news indeed. I think a lot of fans wanted to get behind him after his prior struggles. He's a likeable guy, but it seems he may be pushing his luck at this point.
I was a big fan, but I gotta admit that today's news moves me into the 'undecided' category.

I'm sure that there were people that post here who knew he was using 'roids. And it's not like he's the only MMA fighter in Hawaii or in the world who has used. I don't think we should crucify him just because he got caught. The sad truth is that 'roids are a part of the sport.

He's the second 'Hawaii' (live here now/not born here) fighter who got caught in London. Anthony Torres was first. Now Leben.

I guess I see Leben more a 'victim' when it comes to alcohol. His chidhood was awful. I've witnessed alcoholism first hand in my own family, so I'm overjoyed he's beating that vice.

But I see steroids as willful cheating. Just feel kinda let down because I thought he lived by higher standards.

Crazy I thought he just had a great training camp. He was in phenominal shape.

We,ll your right at least he,s doin well with his other demons...

Yeeeeeeeee

I said he looked questionable the minute I saw him enter the ring.

this sucks I was really thinking he was getting his shit together and wanted him to do well.

IMO people take cheating to lightly if this was the old days he would be put to death not saying that thats how it should be and not only speaking of Leban specifically but just in general. Maybe if we start stoning cheaters there will be a lot less cheating.

This does put a black eye on Leban and his gym ( or who ever knew about it )

it sucks when you risk it all test positive and still lose the fight. the least he could have done was win atleast it would be a no contest or something

I just read Chris' response and it looks like he's taking immediate responsibility. That is 100% the right thing to do, and scores positive kudos with someone like myself. Says he wants to speak to kids about the dangers of steroids. People are foregiving, and now he has an opportunity to right his wrong.

But - for me, at least - this is prob his last 'mulligan.'

Let me be the first to say cus I know some are thinking it... but his trainer aint too happy about it either. Winny's the last thing youd take in search for a performance advantage. Pretty dumb move.

Yeah we all know Steve The World Champion would never juice! Terrible for the gym but I guess at this point it does not matter much.

i tellem how you feel. terrible for the gym? wot gym? terrible for Chris, hope he keeps his head up.

even sadder because he LOST THE FIGHT! Cheated and still lost is worse than cheated but won imo.

Either way though, he still seems like a decent guy. Just not so good at making life's decisions.

Honestly I don't think steroids are bad or that they should be illegal. I don't think injectable stuff should be legal unless a Dr. is doing it. The reality in pro sports is that the majority are roiding, doping etc. The challenge is not getting caught.

maybe you should start roiding.probably take away that pudgy look of yours.

They all roid, he just got caught.

There is a film that was recently released called Bigger, Stronger, Faster on this very subject. You can see the trailer on youtube. The UFC reality is that the majority are using roids. Chris should not have done it because at this point in our country they are illegal. However the reality is he probably would never be a top flight UFC guy without them.

jjd is correct. If you are not juicing you will lose to someone who is. Does not make it right but that is the reality.

most guys use a "masking agent" guess he didn't do his research.

roids is for f@gs. it is cheating and illegal. you don't need it to win and if you do you ain't sh%t. if you want an advantage over your opponent i got the answer...train harder. taking steroids does not make you win the fight, as proven here and many times before, hard training and dedication does.

Most of the guys I met who were in the UFC don't roid. Of course they also talk about A LOT of other fighters who do.

I dont have an opinion either way on this. Some guys do it and some dont. I think it is a part of the game. Its a unavoidable part of every professional sport... almost

Everyone is trying to find an edge. But it all comes down to entertainment so who gives a shit.

Look at how HUGE everyone was in Pride. No one complained about any "supplement" usage then. Not all the fighters were on shit, but no one was saying shame on the ones who were.

Screw it, if you feel you need that edge, go for it. Just dont get caught. And also be prepared for the health repurcussions as well as the legal ones.
