Hi Guys. I was wondering if you could please help me out. I was reading the JJ UNI book and I was just wondering how saulo removes the hook off his hip when he transitions to the back. No details mentioned in the book and I was just wondering if I was missing something.
here's a pic of the steps in the book:

I know Kevin (author) posts here maybe he can shed some insight.
Thanks for your help guys.
Nobody wants to help around here today. If you want any responses you gotta learn to start a rumor or troll about wrestling. You gotta learn to make angles on the interwebs man.
385 posts???
Are you even trying?
That said, this picture is big and I have no answer for your question.
BUT AT LEAST I PUT FORTH A LITTLE HONEST EFFORT AROUND HERE
I don't have the book, but from my experience, when you sprawl and kill his legs that takes care of the hook on your hip and it's pretty easy to step to the back if he blocks the pass attempt.
thanks T Ham. I appreciate you posting the link. sorry don't really know how to post pictures.

manster: i tried sprawling sometimes the hook comes off but sometimes it doesn't. I was inconsistent that's why I thought I'd try to get some feedback.

When you sprawl your legs you are trying to use your hips to kill the leg. In this case it will work sometimes but that really depends on your body position at the time.
The best way to kill the leg effectively from this position (and also remove the hook) is to make sure you are up on your toes and drive your chest down into his leg. You can lift your hips up at that point, which should remove the hook, and then shift your hips to the side that you are moving to.
I hope that makes sense. I find it to be a very effective pass from that position.
