Didn't Leo start Team Brasa?

Who is running Brasa now and coaching the guys?

Who is on the team?

BFH

Everyone else is still with the team.  Felipe Costa, Robert Drysdale, Comprido, Demian Maia, Traven, Andre Galvao, Christan Keller some of the bigger and most popular names.

the team is also becoming very strong in the usa with comprido and robert here as well as traven.  Demian has a school in the usa, comprido and felipe both have a few affiliates.

Demian has a school?

I heard he was training with Drysdale in Vegas

BFH

he trains with robert while he is in vegas.  Demian still lives in brazil but i run the academy here in naperville illinois.  Demian Maia Jiu Jitsu Academy  (inside L.A. Boxing in naperville)

Maia is an absolute beast.

I just don't get BJJ politics. Brasa broke off from Alliance and now, just a few years later, another splinter. Seems like a lot of bridges are being burned for no reason.

^^^Of course, I'm an outsider looking in and have nowhere near proprietary info on what has actually gone down.

Ugh,I train with leozinho and I do not like the name CheckMat BJJ. The frustrating and funny thing is I can't do shit about. It's just a name I guess oh well whatever. Leo's school is pretty sic imo.

They should all just stop screwing around and rejoin Alliance.

Be fair bro, to say everyone else is still with the team is a serious understatement. Brasa still has the core of the team but to say that nobody else left with them deminished the accomplishments of some of the best up and coming grapplers the team had. Lucas Leite, Bruno Frazzato, Rodrigo Ranieri, Jonatas Nascimento, Marcel Louzado, Rodrigo Cavaca, Finfou, Bob Esponja, Rafael and Guilherme Mendes all left with Leozinho, Ricardinho, and Leandro...not exactly a group of slouches. There are others also but these are the ones I remember off the top of my head. The new Check Mat team make a serious mark at the big tournaments just with the guys they have. There will be 2 very strong teams in a couple years as a result of the team dividing just as there was when Brasa left Alliance.

Again, why all the freaking division? And why does it always seem to be Alliance?

its interesting with all the divides.

How do the students under Leo teach and train?
Like Drysdale? How does he conduct classes?
What technique?

Leo's new team, Checkmat just took second at the Rio Open and first at the No-gi worlds.

Looks like Chckmat has got all the great actively competing sports grapplers and Team Brasa has all the MMA focused guys.

That is most interesting.
I noticed a lot of guys are doing mma out of LV and Leo is concentrating on BJJ.
When I went out to Cali for the world's I went and hung at different schools. I tried to hit Leo's up and get info on it, but they didn't give me much. How many upper belts are there?
