re watching my adcc 2011 matches and damn leo viera really put on a good show..
not to say he was most dominant because there was Marcello garcia and Rafa mendes who at this point both clear proof there is indeed life on other planets and some of those aliens live and compete amongst us normal people!!
But leo's went up in weight and faced quite a few young bucks and really showed some solid strategy and gamesmanship to take home that silver.. his match with Calasans.. Epic ending
with Marcello out thie year I wonder who will emerge as "The ONE"

Everyone thought Calasans would wreck Leozinho too with his size etc.
Leo went for it that year and didn't play as passive as he often did in the past. his match with calasans showed his experience
I think Kron has a good shot at winning 77 this year, he ran into Marcelo the last two times and almost had him once with the guillotine

He's fighting Calasans in a special no gi match on the next Copa Podio on Sep 8.
i dunno leo is for sure one of my all time favorites and a big influence on my game developmentally but age gotta catch up with the wizard at some time.. really depends on who's going..
one major thing to keep in mind is leo is a MASTER strategist and PLAYS the Game very well.. I don't see him beating some of the young bucks with a longer time limit but he is far more well balanced in terms of standing and ground game than many and will take some heads for sure.
I could see him beating lo that fought in 2011 but im sure he has greatly improved since then..
