Leslie Smith has tumor on stomach

She can't afford treatment either. If the UFC doesn't make this right then we the UG need to start a gofundme or some sort of fundraiser. In case nobody knows she is the woman who just fought Cyborg at 140lbs in the UFC Phone Post 3.0

wow, this is major. hope indeed a gofund gets started so she has the right help fast.

While a good gesture . I don't see how UFC is obligated to do anything about it. It is non UFC related and wouldn't be covered under their policy .

When you say we you mean not yourself right? Phone Post 3.0

Well she has health insurance through the UFC. Is there something else they should do? Phone Post 3.0

It only covers fight related injuries, so basically not really insurance at all Phone Post 3.0

No your wrong.

All contracted fighters are covered worldwide, no matter what country or continent in which they live.
The fighters will pay nothing, Zuffa will take the burden of 100 percent of the premium. Fertitta did not comment on the exact amount it will cost Zuffa, but he did say it was a "substantial expense" and they are "stepping up in a major way like no other promotion has ever done."
The policy will cover up to $50,000 per fighter, per year. This is on top of the already extensive fight night coverage, which is a separate policy. If a fighter is hurt while fighting at a UFC or Strikeforce event, it will not be deducted from their $50,000 policies.
The plan will cover all fighters under contract, whether they are signed for a fight or not. Any accident, whether suffered during training, car accident or anything else for that matter, will be covered. Phone Post 3.0

The ufc is usually good about things like this, I'll wait to see their course of action before breaking out the pitchfork.

If they do take the douche route they often do go down, I'll put some money up for her gofundme Phone Post 3.0

What's the "douche route?" Phone Post 3.0

Damn! Where's the source?

I love Leslie Smith. Phone Post 3.0

This boils down to the insurance policy that the ufc has. Without knowing the policy, hard to say. Sucks she is having difficulties, but if the policy doesn't cover this type of thing. What does the ufc have to do? They can't pay to take care over everyone all the time

Go fund me?

Did zuffa do away with their fighter insurance coverage?

No go fund me needed right?

Uncle Dana has this covered.

Pocket change for egg.

Sure they can afford to cover their fighters.

Really the least they can do is offer insurance while they are currently fighting for zuffa.

I found this on MMA weekly.
From 2011

Says the insurance covers any accidents suffered outside the cage. The fighter simply need to be under contact.
However, it seems the policy doesn't cover illness. Phone Post 3.0

Guess how I know you're not from the US? You think $50K should about cover it (and you'd be right in most other parts of the world).

Not sure what this has to do with Zuffa? Either way I hope she recovers well. Phone Post 3.0

I'm not so sure this is gastric cancer? Whatever I could find on Leslie smith didn't indicate that nor did it say in particular the stomach organ.
Hoping for the best, something benign. Phone Post 3.0

Maybe because most jobs have health insurance offered . Not just insurance covered for on the job incidents . Phone Post 3.0

Why would the UFC need to make this right?  They may choose to but why do you feel they have to?
