Just about every match up people are saying for Lasnar's return have flaws.

But no one has said Barnett. Big guy, has good wrestling and solid stand up. Seems obvious.

Besides, it's not like Zuffa LIKES Barnett. They're not going to help his career by putting him in a near-guaranteed 7-figure PPV fight with the sport's top draw.

The turny will be done around the time Lesnar comes back. AND if he wins it would be a massive UFC event.

I don't think Barnett wins against Lesnar pre-sickness. I think he outwrestles Barnett and pounds him out. But now, I don't doubt he'd win. I don't think we'll ever see Lesnar have the success he had.

I could totally see that happening. Brock takes Barnett down, then gets ran through like a white belt. The crowd boos in unison as Barnett runs around the cage flexing and making weird faces.

Barnett would absolutely rape Brock Lesnar anyway he wants.
It would be a horrible matchup for Brock imo.
The menace of Lesnar has gone, I can't think of many fighters I'd bet on him against. The first thing any fighter is going to do against him his punch him in the face and hope he hasn't learned how to take a punch. Nobody is scared of Lesnar any more, he's been proven to be human and not invincible.
I think this would be a great matchup. The trash talk from Barnett would be epic, and a matchup with Brock would get lots of media attention. IMO, Barnett could be a HUGE draw in the UFC, just a lot of mainstream fans dont know him well enough.

There is no question Barnett is the more skilled of the two. But it seems a lot of opinions here are based around the way Cain handled Brock. Brock clealy didn't deal well with Cain's hands, but even coming off his sickness, it was pretty evident Brock's athleticism and strength are still there. And Brock does have legitimate ground skills, as well.
While I believe Barnett would be a tough test and may even beat Lesnar, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. I mean, who would be shocked if Brock managed to nab a UD via takedowns and playing a top game? Not me.

I prefer this fight to lesner v overeem. I dont want to see a 3rd fight with Mir it is way to early for that.
Josh Barnett would easily destroys Brock or Cain. Josh has wrestling to neautralize theirs and has way better standup and subs than either of those two. Josh would most likely beat Jds too, but in a more competitive fight.
