Lesnar vs Mir 3 for first NY show this fall?

Dave Meltzer reports on the potential return of Lesnar to the UFC in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer:

Lesnar had made arrangements with Dana White at least a couple of days earlier to appear at the show. It wasn’t a last minute thing, although everyone kept it secret. UFC itself pushed him being there.

Those in UFC had expected for some time that Lesnar would be returning, beginning with a fight with Frank Mir. Mir had brought up the night before Lesnar's issue with McMahon, about potentially fighting Lesnar, noting that if he didn't win his 2/22 fight over Antonio Silva, he wouldn't get what he acknowledged would be his highest profile match possible.

With Sheldon Silver out of power, there is the hope that they can get it passed this year and run Madison Square Garden in the fall. An idea that would make sense, if Lesnar actually signs, would be to put Lesnar vs. Mir as part of a double main event for the MSG debut show. With Jon Jones and Chris Weidman both from New York, one or the other would be the likely first main eventer if both are still champions if/when they are allowed to run there.

If they did this and Brock vs Mir, world explodes Phone Post 3.0

Rumor was Brock told Vince in the new contract he had to have the option to fight in the UFC also which Vince was OK with but they disagreed about money. Brock showed up to UFC 184 to tell Vince, these guys want me full time and I dont need you. In the end I think he does his 3 PPVs a year with WWE and does 2 matches a year with UFC. My guess would be Brock vs Mir this fall/winter and then his next fight will be at UFC 200, maybe against Reem.

Thats a great contract if so. Good for him for working it out. Phone Post 3.0

They should do more cross promotion between the 2 companies.

I only started watching MMA because of ken shamrock in WWF in the late 90s.

lame.

future legend - why? the 2nd fight wasn't even close
You're right, what's the point ??

Jk well-rested Mir could end brock with whichever combo he wants. Phone Post 3.0

willienugget - and you blast Reem for wanting a piece of that action
At least Brock's coming off a win vs Mir.
And they each have a win over eachother.
And mir just broke his losing streak.
And it's a bit more interesting of a matchup.

And it will SELL. Phone Post 3.0

True, but one of the big problems Mir has is when it goes to the ground and Lesnar is in top position. Mir does not have good take down defence.

For some reason Lesnar rubs his cocksword all over his opponent during the fight than foams out of the mouth when it's finished. Very peculiar.

Seems more like one of those side show match ups that Dana always said he wouldn't do.

He signed cm punk, he isn't going to have a problem with this. Phone Post 3.0

I'm amazed that the UG still generates traffic by posting shit about Lesnar.

Lesnar is under contract with the WWE. Therefore, the UFC better not be 'eyeing' anything with Brock.

While we're talking about fighters that are not under contract with the UFC..... I heard Pat Curran is going to fight Conor McGregor on NYE...... You know..... The UFC is 'eyeing' it.....

The ufc is free to draft up any kind of offer for brock they want.

They can make whatever plans they want.

Brock isn't allowed to negotiate with the ufc, but ufc can say whatever they want. They have no contract with WWE.

You better believe UFC has a plan in place in case they can secure brock after his contract is up this month.

no way the vanilla gorilla comes back.

kinda too bad, i was warming up to the guy. cool to have a minnesota champion.

This is the same rumor from last time Phone Post 3.0

Jones is from upstate... He can never wear that crown.

Also, Weidman beats the Reebok logo off Jon if/when they ever fight. Phone Post 3.0

Weidman vs jones would be a killer fight Phone Post 3.0

The only thing that could trump this would be fedor Brock on belator. Wonder if that's possible.
