If Marcelo pulls off the victory it will showcase the small man beating the larger skilled Person and even if Marcelo lasts to a draw it showcases the power of BJJ
Marcelo already has enough shit on his plate and his priorities have shifted. Little man beating the big man has already been proven time and time again(case in point the above Marcelo vs Rico.) Going to a draw just proves Marcelo is awesome . Bjj itself has already been proven enough. It works.

I would love to see Marcelo vs anyone at a Metamoris. That said, he has nothing to prove so maybe he'll just keep producing high-level students like Danis that get out there and compete. I'm good with that too. 
I think we need to get over the fact that Roger and Marcelo have other things going on that are the focus. We may get to see one of them in a one off tournament like Metamoris, but not soon. Marcelo has two babies under 2. As a dad in the same situation, I can tell you there is no hard training or sleep at the moment.

Marcelo has other priorities these days. He also has had some back problems over the years and hasnt done an absolute/no-weight match in many years.
Think about it: Marcelo already has 5 BJJ Mundial golds and 4 ADCC golds. He is also getting older with a bad back and basically retired from competition, has two young children, building a great school with top notch competitors. His plate is clearly very full.
I have heard he is doing one last ADCC? If so I assume he finds winning one last ADCC more inspiring than doing Metamoris?
He also just had his ACL done not too long ago (less than a year I think).

Marcelo Garcia student, Gianni Grippo last year in the IBJJF Las Vegas Open beat Ranieri Paiva de Albuquerque in the Absolute division. Ranieri Paiva de Albuquerque was an Ultra Heavyweight, which is over 221 lbs I believe. At the time Gianni Grippo weighed in at 153 lbs.

I don't have any interest in it other than it being Marcelo. I'd much rather see him against a normal sized fighter.

Agreed. I would rather see one of these then Barnett vs Marcelo.
The suggestion of either Kron or Marcelo doesn't make any sense to me...from their perspective. Going against Barnett isn't like going against a 250lb purple. All these matches would do is open them to serious injuries.
