Keep in mind im not your species. As for having a “boyfriend/girlfriend” i think i could care less with my own cub when she reaches that age. Those terms seem to get thrown around by kids and pre teens all the time and lots of times in execution they carry zero weight. Id be more curious to hear from my cub “what does it mean to you to have a boyfriend/girlfriend?” Ie what does it look like like in action and what does it entail? Id take my response from there.
Big difference between a “relationship” in which all they do is pass notes in class,play video games togrther online, or do nothing but message on discord sometime and their friends tease for thinking the partner is 'cute," and a relationship in which more real consequences such as kissing, making out, oral, sex, is going on. Clearly there is levels to this stuff and id have to gauge my cub and the potential boyfriend.
Lot of times flat out saying no is a recipe for disaster instead of hearing them out and where they are coming from.and navigating the situation from there. Youll probably create a better relationship with your cub too.

Kids are a lot more immature today than they were even 20 years ago. I don’t think most are mentally prepared for a relationship before 16 and they certainly aren’t prepared for the repercussions of having sex until they are at least 18
