Let's talk about the "GREASING" allegations

I just logged on and I'm trying to catch up, so I'd like to ask for an establishment of a foundation here.

1. What do the unified rules specifically cover about "greasing"?

2. What proof or evidence is there that GSP was "greasing"? Is there a screen shot or gif of GSP's corner applying it?

Yes , and you didnt just log on .

Hong Kong Phooey -  Yes , and you didnt just log on .

There is literally not one part of that post that makes the slightest shred of sense.

Thanks for the effort though, I guess.

HKP: "The answer is four. And you have socky feet."

There are half a dozen threads complete with giffs and admissions from Jackson Dana, Chuck Lidell, and The Commission.

Do some reading

nobones, thank you very much for posting that for me, my friend.

Interesting, thank you.

Fuck self.

Does anyone know the actual rule about this? Does one even exist?

I only know of the NJ unified MMA rules, and I couldn't find anything there.

Can any halfway-sane person honestly say that it had NO impact on the fight? I'm not saying by any means that BJ would have won or even that the outcome would be different... but it's ludicrous to assume that it's fair or impartial that grease was smeared all over his neck, head, and shoulders. That would have a HUGE impact on BJ's effectiveness from the bottom, and not only with subs.

I know that some promotions that I have worked for do not allow the corners to put on any vaseline on their fighter in the locker room. They must wait and have an official do it before they step in the cage.

I don't think it could have changed the outcome on the fight but yes it can effect BJ's guard play ofcourse.

The main issue here is that it clearly broke the rules and GSP's cornerman fucked up.   Whether it warrants a NC?  I dunno, it'd be good to see the NSAC rules regarding  Vaseline.

Seriously though dude... you've rolled before. You know how much harder it is to submit someone in a gi, versus no gi, versus shirtless, and versus sweaty and shirtless (beep). Now add Vaseline to that, and it is still indeed ludicrous to assume it "couldn't" have changed the outcome of the fight.

I'm not a BJ nuthugger at all. I really didn't care who won last night because I like both guys.

Well,  although I was rooting for BJ  I just felt that GSP would be too much for him to go up 170 and win.  I was saying this prior to the fight.   and imo w/o vasceline I still think GSP would probably win.

But yeah, you are completely correct though.  Vasoline on his back & shoulders could pretty much nulify anyones guard game and reduce the chances of subbing someone of GSP's caliber to almost nill.  BJ does have the skill to pull of a sub from guard,  but on a greasy GSP??? not so much.

but again, whats done is done. The main issue here is that he greased and what the NSAC is going to do about it.

many threads with gifs...no admissions from anyone about anything other than the fact that something happened...lots of threads speculating about what/why folks are saying and acting a certain way but very few facts.

Please name last person BJ submitted from guard in MMA.

Thank you and have a nice day.

I don't think it would have changed the outcome because no matter what BJ was on the bottom eating strikes, and St. Pierre was on top. Im sure the greasing affected BJs ability to maintain the guard and go for subs from the bottom.

I think NSAC needs to put some rulings on greasing fighters, maybe not changing things to a NC but the cornermen should be banned for life and 40-50% of the fighters purse should be fined.

Maybe allowing fighters to use gi pants or spandex pants might help prevent greasing too.

What a stupid thing to say.

Just because a fighter hasn't pulled a sub from the guard or a high kick KO or any sort of punch doesn't mean he has no ability to do so.  You need to learn the game son.
