sounds great. I heard great things about this set.
But i'm wondering if he'll ever offer a sale on these. 65 for video tapes is a little too much for me right now. I hate to be one of these people who wants things for cheap. BUT, i remember him saying that tape sales for the US for his guard tape has been very poor. I'm sure many people (including myself) here in the US would purchase it if it was cheaper.
Just my opinion.

Nice review and a great set!!!
One of my favorites."65 for video tapes is a little too much for me right now."Your current economic situation aside. Considering that these two tape total 2+ hours, and the price includes shipping to the states... I think $65 is a pretty fair price.
I guess I meant that sixty five dollars is a lot for videotapes when DVDs are being so prevalent.
I wish this set would have been available on DVD... definitely a keeper. But if you have to... sell your sister to an oil sheik to get the money to buy this set. Kraaawaaaack.... home run!
Thanks for the great review :o)
If some of you think $65 is too much that's fine. I've spent that on rubbish seminars in the past so for people to get over 2 hours of instruction on tape which is really helping their game I think it's a fair price. Plus, I've got make a living! lol
I will ty and do new material on DVD next year.
Hey, if I put this set on DVD those that have bought the tapes can have them for just over cost (you might have to remind that I said that).

"Hey, if I put this set on DVD those that have bought the tapes can have them for just over cost (you might have to remind that I said that)."
Will do. :^)
I am down once DVDs come out.
"Hey, if I put this set on DVD those that have bought the tapes can have them for just over cost..."
I'd pick up the DVDs too.

LOL Comedian
That sounds like a great set, but a tough sell when Island's MMA
DVDs are only $16.99 each.
Cost too much money ??????? I put my order in over the holidays and I thought the price was reasonable $65.00 including shipping from the UK...
ttt
Did you hear me say "too much?" Or that I begrudge a man the
chance to make a living? It's just a lot more than $16.99 per tape.
ok........
the tapes are sold for $65 including shipping, which in £ sterling equates to around £41. They are sold in the UK for £35 including shipping. Obviously shipping overseas is far more expensive so the $10 increase is perfectly reasonable imo.
With regards to the DVDs, that is a pretty big financial risk in my opinion. Everyone says i'll buy them if you put them on DVD and never do, just ask the CageWarriors promotor who ended up giving away his dvds to anyone to paid the post and packaging.
Yes DVDS are the way of the future, but considering the extra production costs in producing them, especially without a regualr market i don't know just how viable of an option it really is
These are great tapes and Levo is a cool guy.
"Hey, if I put this set on DVD those that have bought the tapes can have them for just over cost (you might have to remind that I said that). "
I have that in WRITING sucker! Make sure you put a good menu on it! When can I look forward to getting them? (And I wonder what 'just over cost' will mean?).
Also, Levo - what made you become an SBG affiliate?
i assume it means a price just above the cost of production, so if each dvd costs £5 youd get it for £6
"Yes DVDS are the way of the future, but considering the extra production costs in producing them, especially without a regualr market i don't know just how viable of an option it really is "
It's a difficult transition period for niche players. I think it was only recently that DVD sales overtook VHS sales (by value).
I only got a DVD player recently, I had held out because of hundreds of MA tapes that I have. Several people I know no longer have a VCR at all.
But soon enough it won't even be an option for someone like Levo to consider not producing on DVD.
Da Specimen's comments on the risks of doing DVD are bang on. I will do it, it's the way of the future. However, it'll take all my savings so is a major gamble. If the people who say they will buy it don't I'll be fucked.
Roy Harris recently posted that "I have not yet broke even on the BJJ 101 DVD's that I made over one year ago. While it's a great product for the consumer, replicating mass quantities of DVD's is still an expensive endeavour for those of us who do not have large sums of money to be able to pay for and stock several thousand DVD's." so I hope you can understand why it's gonna take time for someone like me who doesn't even have his resources.
- "When can I look forward to getting them?"
No idea, won't be for many months yet as I want to do new material first.
- "And I wonder what 'just over cost' will mean?."
I mean that it'll be a couple of dollars over the cost of the DVDs and shipping. I don't want those that bought the videos to feel ripped off if I do DVDs in the future, so I want to offer them the DVDs at roughly the cost they are to me if they want them.
- "Also, Levo - what made you become an SBG affiliate?"
The UK director (Karl Tanswell) is a good friend that has taught me a lot. Matt Thornton's videos were a big influence and his opinions on training really clicked with me. I also like their attitude.
- "But soon enough it won't even be an option for someone like Levo to consider not producing on DVD."
True, true.
- "I'm not joking about DVD-R."
There's been so much negative press on people releasing DVD-Rs I'm not willing to take the gamble. Also, if I get problems with my PC (which I guarantee would happen during the biggest run of orders) I'd be in the shit. Thanks for the idea though.
Happy New Year everyone.
