Former UFC light heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell appeared on ESPN's SportsNation on Tuesday for a wide-ranging interview.

Asked how the sport had changed since his 2010 retirment. In sum, Liddell is not impressed with GSP's perfomance.
"I think some people make complaints about some of the champions playing it safe," said Liddell. "I understand it, but I don't want to watch it. I think St-Pierre is a great fighter. He's awesome... I just don't like watchinghim play safe. And he fights safe. I mean against Diaz he spiral rode him for half the fight. I don't like watching that.
"Now, for him to able to do that to guys that are at that level is impressive. But it's not exciting to me. And the way they chose the fight. I mean 'I've been beating this guy up for four rounds, I'm still just gonna win the last round. I'm not gonna try to finish him. I'm not gonna go after him. I'm not gonna take any risks.' From a coaching standpoint and a manager's standpoint, I understand. It makes sense. It's big money now. But from a fan's standpoint, I don't want to watch it, [not] unless I think he's fighting someone that can make him fight. I actually think this next fight coming up, I'm excited, he's fighting Johny Hendricks and I think Hendricks is going to make him fight."
Chucks right. I watch all mma so yes I pay to watch gsp fight, but gsp cards are usually stacked so I wouldn't wanna miss them even tho the main event is usually a snoozer.
Hikikomori - George will be healthy after retirement.
GSP has looked worse after many of his fights than liddell ever did, I would venture to say GSP takes more shots, but LIddell just got KO'd easily at the end of his career.
GSP looked beat up after BJ 1, Condit, Shields, and Diaz
I don't get why people always say Chuck sounds bad, and shit on his health. He sounds about the same to me, and I can understand the guy with no trouble. He also seems pretty damn healthy.
Zed Wayne Zed - Last defeated in 2007 by fluke punch.
Deal with it.
He makes everyone he faces look average.
Chuck, and I respect Chuck greatly, has massive trouble speaking now. Makes me sad.
GSP is making bank, saving his health, and no one can beat him. I mean...what else is there to say?
Stop destroying the sport maybe? Stop turning new fans away or giving people the impression that MMA sucks? Stop manipulating the ineffective rule set to avoid fighting? Stop trying to avoid fighting so much when you're supposed to be a professional fighter? I could go on, but you get the point. There is A LOT more to say.
Also, lol @ him making everyone he faces look average. He did no such thing against Condit or Diaz. He simply takes advantage of the imperfect unified rules of MMA to grapple fuck his opponent until the final bell sounds while simultaneously putting the audience to sleep.
I'm not a fan of how GSP fights these days but, you sir, are a complete retard.
I find with George he seems more interested in his business side endorsements advertising and his brands income than anything which might risk that. Which I guess is his right like the whole vada wada thing with Johnny.
Saw a ton little happy kids wearing GSP's headbands and gis and all excited about going to see the UFC. GSP wasn't on card."
He IS destroying the sport. Do you really think those kids gave ever watched a full GSP fight from the past six years, or did they het the headband based on his marketable image of a "fighter"?
"If you think GSP is destroying MMA, than you simply don't understand dominance."
He's not dominating, he's manipulating the rule system and the scoring system.
"Condit was one fight, since Serra, where he had some moments of dispair, still won. And, again, if you believe Diaz did anything at all, anything at all in that fight, I have nothing to say to you."
He took Condit down most times shit started to hit the fan, and thw most exciting part of the fight was him almost getting knocked out.
Against Diaz, he did exactly what he had to do to win. Circle, jab, takedown, rinse, repeat. Granted Diaz looked like shit for that fight, too, but watch the Gracie breakdown of the fight. They explain how GSP simply avoided getting into spots where he could do damage because there was too high a risk of submission. He knew exactly where to place himself so as not to get stood up by the referee while not actually engaging Diaz.
"Getting voted down liked crazy, but as I have learned on my time on the UG, independent thought scares the mongoloids that plague MMA."
I for one didn't vote you down and will not ever based on your responses in this thread. Reasonable men can differ, even if one of them loves five-round grapplefuck "fights" ;)
