Little dude takes on sumo wrestlers and dominates

Seen this vid before but never fails to impress me. That dude is a fucking beast!!!

Pretty amazing.

impressive - just read up on his career. Dude was under 100kg and competed in the highest level.

That's pretty crazy… Very cool video

He had to develop his own style to win on a high level… He reminds me of a young Dana White in a lot of ways

Pretty fuckin cool....

My first thought was "He aint so LITTLE"...but then, he is a lot littler than every fat fuck he was up against.

Cheers for that...

He competed at the highest level for a very short time IIRC. The size mismatches are impressive, but hehas pretty much had a mediocre career overall.

Takanoyama Shuntar?

Sumo wrestler

Takanoyama Shuntar? (born 21 February 1983 as Pavel Bojar) is a former sumo wrestler from PragueCzech Republic. He is the first man from the Czech Republic to join the professional sport in Japan.[1] He reached the third highest makushita division in 2004, but due to his light weight he had difficulty in regularly beating his opponents, despite his skill.[2] However, in May 2011 he finally earned promotion to the sekitori ranks. After becoming only the third new sekitori since 1958 to pass through j?ry? division in just one tournament, he made his debut in the top makuuchi division in September 2011. He retired on 24 July 2014.[3]

I think it's safe to say nothing about his performances are mediocre

you don't get to Maegashira 12 (whatever the fuck that is) by being mediocre

He had a losing record at the top division of Sumo I believe and was only there for like a year before getting demoted. All his success was at the lower divisions of juryo (second tier pro sumo) and makushita (not even considered pro sumo). Guy is cool to watch, but all this stuff about a little guy over coming the top sumos in the world with pure technique is pure fantasy.

i think the point is that it is impressive for him to get there with such a size mismatch. not as much a discussion of his sumo career

It is very impressive yes, but people that have never watched sumo misunderstand what he actually accomplished in his career. They are assuming that he was dominating top level sumos

Megaeshira Level 12 is where all 5 Lions come together to form Voltron.

Joe O'Brien - Yeah, got his ass kicked overall.

Sumo is also, without a doubt, the most worthless combat sport ever invented. It's something retarded toddlers could conceivably compete in. A whole day of worthless, stupid and archaic ceremony for like maybe a minute of actual action. Add the corruption (freakanomics), ties to organized crime, the disgusting homo-erotic stable system, whistleblowers dying mysteriously.

I hope this generation lets it die.

I think it is cool, but all the outside the ring stuff is kind of disturbing yea.

Exactly, forest for the trees. Some people can miss simple observations very easily.

No because it just shows size matters. It is like BJ Penn. Everyone loves BJ's courage but his record is not great and most of his loses are when he went up in weight. BJ will fight anyone which people like myself love but it is also why he has not a great record.

This guy may not fear the bigger guys but he is also not beating the bigger guys.

It is like me wanting to fight Brock Lesner. I mean sure am 6'1 220 and he is around 6'4 285+++. I will get my ass kicked but I get some credit cause I am dumb enough to fight someone so much larger and more experienced.

You can't avoid fighting bigger guys as there are no weight classes in sumo, but i agree it is admirable that he wanted to test himself in such a way and move to Japan to pursue an impossible dream.

I think it is a great example of someone who wanted to test themselves regardless of their physical limitations, and doing so successfully.

It isn't like he tried to get a flash of fame to further some other career. He went as high in Sumo as he could get, and when he reached that point he went home.

Cheers to him, not many people have that type of commitment or testicular fortitude.

I agree with all of this too

Damn. Hadn't seen this one. Thanks op, that dude is scrappy and had great technique.
