Alright assholes. It’s time to shake things up a bit with the LMBB tournaments. After 14 tournaments, they have become much like The Ultimate Fighter. Interesting for the first two rounds, then suck worse than a two dollar toothless hooker with some flashes of brilliance every now and then. The old tournament was a suicide pick-em and by round three, 95% of the field was typically out. This sucks.
With that said, we are going to change things up a bit. Instead of one tournament lasting until we have a winner, the tournament is now going to be done in quarters. The new tournament starts with UFC 195 on January 2nd and goes through UFN 85 on March 19th. If there’s another card in March, that will be the last card for this tournament.
Here’s how this works. Each UFC card you predict two fighters who you think will win. If they win, you score a point. If they lose, you don’t. Every event that you get all of your picks right, you get a bonus pick for the next round. So if in the first round you are successful and get both picks right, the second round you have three. If in the second you get all three right, then you get four picks in the third round. If any one of your picks loses, then you go back to having only two picks for the next round.
Now anyone can enter the tournament at any time, but they will start with 0 points and must follow the rules. So if someone enters during the 5th card, they can only pick 2 fights where as it is possible for someone to be picking 6 fights.
For prizes I am still working on trying to get some other things but for now will be as follows:
1st place: Blue Name for 1 year and a set of prints of MMA fighters from Justin McAlister
2nd place: One set of prints of MMA fighters
3rd place: TBD if we can get some other prizes thrown in
Let’s get onto the fine print rules for this tournament:
1. You must pick at a minimum 2 fights per UFC event based on your current number of picks allowed
1a. This is based on 2 picks for each event, plus bonus picks. Keep reading rules to figure out how many picks you actually get. Stop being dumb fucks with this rule and trying to exploit it.
1b. If you decide that you still get to make more picks than you are allowed, I as rule keeper, get to decide which picks actually count towards your points.
2. You can pick any fights on the card
3. If you get all your fights correct, you get a bonus pick for the next round
4. If any of your predictions are wrong, you go back to two fights
5. MMARecap will provide the prizes unless anyone else wants to contribute to the prize pool
6. MMARecap will keep track of who has how many points
7. Each event will have a deadline to get picks in, 1 hour prior to first fight to ensure no cheating
8. If there is a NC or draw, it doesn’t count as a point, but you still keep the same number of picks for the next round
9. The way you win is to predict the most fights for the duration of the tournament
10. Shit talking is encouraged. When someone makes a stupid pick, call them on it. When they get a pick wrong, call them on it.
11. If a fight gets scratched that you picked and there is at least 48 hours prior to fight, you must make a new pick or it is considered wrong. If it is less than 48 hours, it will count as a NC
12. You can change your picks, but you must quote your original post to change them. Failure to quote is being a failure at life and your new picks won’t be recognized.
13. You must use the fighters actual names or what we know him/her as. If more than one fighter has the same last name on a card, state the FULL name
14. If you miss a fight card, you still keep the same number of picks that you earned
15. Depending on lulls in action or just because I’m awesome, I may do bonus points on a round or on a non UFC card or just randomly give out points. So stay active in the thread assholes.
16. In the event of a tie, the person who picked more fights overall will win. If there is still a tie, myself and two other members to be determined will vote on who had the better shit talking throughout
