On paper this should be the case, but there really does seem to be a significant effect, even on pro fighters who have been fighting for a long time, when they take that first solid shot to the face and the blood starts flowing. It's some messy shit.
But yes, on a pure boxing level, you'd have to imagine that Paulie smokes Artem.
Another consideration is how active Paulie has been since retiring from boxing. The flip side of that is having to consider how damage Artem has been taking in that same span of time.
There are obviously plenty of grey areas, like you say, but Lobov can't box, he is fucking terrible.
That last bare knuckle fight with Knight should prove that, it was a war and hes tough, even if it was a flyweight grappler hitting him, he took shots, thats about the only positive from that fight.
Paulie will jab the head off him , Lobov will catch him at some point I'm sure, but no where near the amount he caught Knight, a few cuts wont bother Malinaggi.

Paulie don’t tap because his face is broken. Past-his-primePaulie also outboxed Zab Judah and Broner pretty easily.

I was going to say something similar. Dude thought his cheek/jaw was broken in the Cotto fight and he kept fighting.
As for him being in shape…this entire exercise is to get a fight with Conor. That’s it. He made plenty of money, and makes good money commentating, so it’s not about him taking a bare knuckle fight to make money to live. He’s looking for a HUGE payday against Conor, so he’s going to train as hard as he ever has, and is going to try to fuck Artem up and embarrass him so badly that he gets a fight with Conor. Paulie would not be fighting in bare knuckle against anyone but Artem, and he’s going to beat the shit out of him in hopes of getting Conor in the ring.
For those that don’t know his boxing career, he’s not one of those guys that hung on forever and was getting killed by scrubs at the end of his career. He was still fighting for world titles, and won 3 in a row after losing to Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. Can you imagine Artem fighting either of those 2?
His last loss wasn’t great, but that’s the only loss he took from a guy who wasn’t elite. Paulie was a legit world champion, and he retired at 36. If he needed cash, he could still be boxing, and beating up on journeymen guys that would kill Artem.
Read an article where Paulie said he's getting paid a lot of money and Lobov is a "punching bag with legs".
I'm not a Paulie fan by any means but he couldn't be more correct about that one.
I think even if Paulie loses his cool and allows a brawl he still breaks Lobov's face pretty bad. Lobov's only real shot is if Paulie breaks his hands or something along those lines.

Yeah, that would be pretty amazing but I don’t see it happening at all. Artem’s path to victor here is smothering Paulie and brawling in the pocket, never letting him get comfortable in a new environment.
I suspect Artem’s ego will think he can compete punch for punch though, and he will sit back at first and feel Paulie out. This will be a mistake - letting Paulie get comfortable and feel out his range will be a recipe for getting pieced up. Paulie won’t gas out either, even if he comes into the fight out of shape, because he won’t be winging shots with all his might.
I expect Paulie will start landing volume that will increase with time, unless Artem can crowd him, keep Paulie out of his comfort zone, and slug it out.
True. And with 2 minute rounds i dont think hell find his rhythm like a boxer needs to. I think the bk circuit lends itself better to a brawler. As far as boxer v artem goes…inGeneral…yea i see him piecing him up too…but i dont see it being so one sided.

I honestly have no idea how anyone who has ever watched both guys fight can believe that. Artem isn’t even a great striker among MMA guys. Paulie has fought the best of the best, and won world titles. This conversation feels like when some WWE fan talks about how Dolph Ziglar could likely beat up Conor McGregor.
We’ve seen Artem box…he’s not good. Paulie was one of the top 10 in the world in his weight class.

How the fuck is Artem going to deal with this dude? If Paulie is 60% of what he was, it’s going to be a mess. Artem is way too easy to hit. He took a ton of damage from Jason Knight…a grappler who has a total of 3 TKO wins in his entire mma career (26 fights). Artem better be getting paid a ton for this, because it’s one of the craziest mismatches I’ve seen in the last decade.
The thing is Artem is going to show up to fight. Paulie has to win. Artem doesn’t have to get the W to win. He just needs to make Paulie his bitch for any 20 second period. People will rally behind that. This is pretty much a no win for Paulie.

Honestly I’m loving Bare Knuckle FC. Reminds me of the ufc in the early 2000’s. More of a cult following but high action entertainment. Really excited to see this fight
