looking for a decent martial arts spot in the bay

preferably in the fremont/ union city area. my female cousin is looking to get into martial arts and isnt sure what she wants to do so i told her i'd do some research for her. i started my career in martial arts at sam montgomery's west coast tkd dojo, and loved it, however i dont think this would be a good fit. with her build i think she would really excel in muy thai or even just an mma setting.
so if you know of anywhere thats legit please let me know.

The bay area is a hot bed for MMA - Fairtex, AKA, etc. Staying on that side of the bridge is a little harder though. I haven't lived there in a bit, closest thing I can think of to Fremont (assuming she doesn't want to tackle one of the bridges) is Jake's gym in Berkeley. Never trained there, but it's likely more tailored towards jiujitsu though.

at the same time...she's a 22 year old girl who's only played soccer in her lifetime with ZERO martial arts experience. so i dont want her to spend a fuckin bundle for anything too soon cause its almost not worth it. but at the same time, she's super fuckin athletic so she could definitely excell if she really got into it.

leghound is correct, you can find so many schools in the bay. if she is in fremont just go the extra couple of miles to aka

Located in Union City:

A number of good choices there including Crossfit, Krav Maga, and a really excellent Jiu Jitsu program run by good friend (and Camarillo black belt) Mike Prudencio

I

Google Jake Shields... You may have heard of him before.

Dunno if I agree with you there. I'd rather get in with good trainers early on to break me of any bad habits before I form them. That, and the devil is in the details, especially in jiujitsu. My $.02, and likely due for a refund.

A couple options for you to research
