Looks like Jeopardy is in Jeopardy

After winning the “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” tournament, Ken Jennings vowed to never return to the beloved set as a contestant.

But he didn’t say anything about not playing other game shows.

ennings, who won the “Greatest of All Time” tournament in January, is reuniting with fellow “Jeopardy!” legends James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter for a U.S. adaptation of “The Chase” — a British show where contestants face off against trivia masters, according to Variety.

Sara Haines, co-host of “The View,” will host the new series on ABC. The nine hourlong episodes will feature up to 166 questions covering a wide range of topics. Jennings, Holzhauer and Rutter will rotate as the show’s “chaser” — “a ruthless quiz genius determined to stop contestants from winning cash prizes,” Variety reported.

An earlier U.S version of the show aired on the Game Show Network from 2013-2015. During that run, Holzhauer competed as a contestant against show “chaser” Mark Labbett, according to the New York Times. Episodes from the first two seasons, hosted by Brooke Burns, are available on Netflix, USA Today reported.

A premiere date for the new version has not yet been announced. The upcoming show is part of ABC’s efforts to move deeper into the game show arena, according to Variety. Nearly 15 million viewers tuned in to the network for each episode of the “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” tournament, putting it on a level with the 2019 NBA finals and the 2019 World Series, the Deseret News previously reported.

“I could not have been happier when I saw those ratings,” Jennings told the Deseret News. “‘Jeopardy!’ and ABC were blown away by those numbers. I love that the show is such a stalwart. Tonight’s episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ almost down to the second will be the same as an episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ from 1995 or 1985. They got it right the first time. And there’s just not a lot that’s like that in our culture, that never dumbed down or sped up.”

Jennings — who initially rose to “Jeopardy!” fame in 2004 after a 74-game winning streak — is now a consulting producer on the show’s 37th season. The trivia legend tweeted about “The Chase” on Monday, writing, “The boys are back in town.

Holzhauer also tweeted out the news Monday: “First study goal to get back in game shape: learn everything about both movies that came out this year.”

That's a good idea. I liked watching "The Chase" on GSN.

The next Jeopardy host will probably be a fat black lady.

I hope they do a better job picking out a host for Jeopardy then they did for the reboot of that "weakest link" show.  Not that it was particularly good in the first place, but that lady they got on there now is terrible for the part.

I agree with ya. I’ll never forget when Howard had time though!

No sir. Jeopardy is my favorite game show of all time, and Trebek will forever be my favorite host. But the show goes on. And that’s how he wanted it.
