One of the richest mans in the world and owner of the UFC, Lorenzo Fertitta was the responsible of putting money in the Ultimate Fighting Championship to bring it where it is today, but he wants more. Lorenzo, one of the billionaire brothers, spoke to the reporter Paula Sack in an exclusive interview to TATAME Magazine’s February issue, and asked the question everybody wants to make to Fertitta: Why isn’t Fedor Emelianenko in the octagon?

“That’s a great question. I don’t understand it too. He’s a great fighter, I’d love to see him in the UFC. We’ve already offered a lot of money, more than what he has being paid in other events, so it doesn’t make sense to me”, said Fertitta, who revealed plans of bringing the UFC to Brazil. Everyone already knows that, Fedor confirmed it. Both Zuffa and Fedor negotiate from a position of strength and they want different things. Zuffa want Fedor only in an exclusive contract. Fedor wants freedom to compete in different sports and organizations, and to help out his training mates.

As long as other organizations pay Fedor good enough money there won't be a deal. Just because two sides don't agree, doesn't mean one has too be wrong.

 ziggystardust.....

How dare you bring a balanced and well thought out opinion to this issue?

Russia is a county chock-full of warmongering psychopaths. I have no idea why the UFC doesn't want to get something going there.

The UFC does not want to co promote with M1 Global. I wouldn't either. This is going to hurt Fedor more than it is going to hurt the UFC.

It doesn't have anything to do with russia, or their population of psychopathic people. Where did you get that????

The problem here is the UFC hasn't learned yet that you can't just buy people. Throwing tons of money at someone doesn't mean shit if that's not what his goals are. This is a new time. where all the kids want to be rich and famous and money is all they care about. Fedor is old school and realizes he'd be selling his freedom of choice to participate elsewhere.

It makes me appreciate him that much more.

yeah whatever...obviously you haven't seen any of the jerry millen blogs where he parades Fedor everywhere. he's hanging with the wrong crowd. and we all saw how it affected his fight game until that Flash KO we saw.

he's with the wrong promotion. had he been with the UFC for his last fight...you wouldn't see him ringing the bell at the NYSE or flying cross country right after that for an ill timed press conference because ZUFFA would not need that extra publicity to sell a fight.

AFFLICTIOn did and it drained fedor alot. i'm pretty sure it makes him hate fighting in the states even more. Dana and Co would have treated him right. not a circus.

LOL have you ever even been to a Zuffa press conference? They're laughed about. they actually usually ahve to ask people to come in because nobody cares about them. But that's not the point, the point is, zuffa is amazed because they can't buy fedor. It's not rocket science, and if you want to see how great the UFC takes care of fighters, ask guys that came in, lost 2 and got dumped. Cro Crop ring a bell?

If you don't think that's a biased write up, just pay attention to the fact that they brag about him being a billionaire, while their entire stations casinos org is just about to file bankruptcy.

that's mainly due to MMA not being mainstream yet than anything else. i wonder what Affliction and Pro_elite's or even Strikeforce's press conferences were like....

I believe that is partially true...not to mention nationalism is in the mix as well...A renown Russian selling out to an American corporation...

I hope UFC fixes their policy on the whole owning the fighers rights. I really want to see Fedor in the UFC. Remember when they brought in Filipovic and we saw him in the octagon for the first time, it was amazing and dumbfounding at the same time. Imagine when we get to see Fedor slapping his face in the octagon after a stare down with BJM screaming "are you ready, are you ready, lets get it on", will be surreal.

Finkelstein is the reason why Fedor doesn't fight in the Octagon.

I'm sure they're terrible. My point was it's a bit silly to use a press conference for such a debate.

i get it. you haven't seeen the millen video blogs.

what about the reality show they wanted fedor on? you think that's not selling out to Millen?

yeah you're right. Another comparison that makes the UFC look even worse.

I'm sure the UFC cares enough about their fighters, and the sport of MMA to not put on a reality show that would show them abusing alchohol, tearing houses apart, pissing in other people's food and other things that make MMA look so great.

Look you have an opinion, and I have one. I know very well what Millen does. but m-1 must be doing something right, they have him signed don't they?

To even insinuate that the UFC is good to their fighters is unbelievable. Ask a few of the people from TUF how they were portrayed. Better yet, look how shitty TUF has made MMA look? People wonder why some states want nothing to do with MMA? and you really don't think shit like that is a big reason? please.

"m-1 must be doing something right, they have him signed don't they?"

LOL.

lmao. you're comparing Fedor to TUF contestants now?

TUF is nothing compared to what millen wants to do with Fedor. that's like Dana making a reality show around Anderson Silva who doesn't speak english and have him follow TUF "contestants" around.

and when i say TUF contestants i mean the unknowns who are looking to make a name. not an already extablished fighter. Millen is biting off of Dana's success once again, but he does it in a sleazy way.

i've heard of the complaints brought on by former TUFfers...but those are form disgruntled losers of the show, or because they were portayed wrong. LOL @ Dolce bitching about organic chicken and JT money bitching about having too much alcohol. i'll bet you if given a chance to do it again...yout rality victims would jump at the chance. i'm willing to bet there were alot more positive tahn negative nancies.

the pissing and jizz tuna happened. they did it to themselves. TUF was one big frat house and it sells to the age demographic spike and zuffa were looking for. men age 18-34.

what are you a middle aged man watching a young whippersnapper's sport?

It's pretty clear that your goal is to nut hug the UFC regardless of what's put in front of you. So there's no sense in even attempting a debate. What are you a highschool tuf guy wanna be that 'became' a fan when forrest fought bonnar?

How much did Cro Cop get paid to lose 2 of 3 fights? He was paid at least a million total for all 3 fights. I would say he was taken care of alot more than a vast majority of fighters in the UFC. Especially ones that didnt rack up any wins in the UFC prior to being handed a contract with 6 figure payouts per fight.

If you knew anything about big business, you would know they dont put all their money under one name. If the Palace Station goes under, you can bet that the Fertitas still have tons of money invested and stored away in other ventures and the bank. They more than likely receive compensation for their roles in running Palace Station and its affiliates. How many of the upper management are broke after a big business goes under? Not many, they all still get their huge paydays even tho the company is dying. They get all their stock options, all their bonuses, etc. Which is why our country is in the shape it is in today.
