Love Black Panther but I give the movie 7/10

..and here's why in FRAT for people that are bored.

So I loved Black Panther in the comics for quite a while. I was very surprised when he was announced, but after the Guardians of the Galaxy I have learned to shut my mouth when I think Marvel's making a mistake by chosing a lesser known comic for the big screen.

And they did it again.

So saw BP Saturday, but I was surprised, that it wasn't anywhere near the score I thought it would be… Here is why BP for me does NOT deserve the 15/10 you keep seeing all over the news/reviews:

1) It had no villain. Yes, think about it. The villain of the movie.. kind of… well… he wasn't a real villain. Ok, AFTER getting the throne he went a bit Hitlery on everybody… ok, that's not good. But apart from that? He just beat T'Challah fair and square. He did not grow up in Wakanda and wasted his life with street Basketball until his father died… while T'Challa had the best circumstances of becoming a powerful fighter – specially hand to hand. That other kid turned his live around, became a killingmachine and then beat him to become the ruler of Wakanda. Michonne was right to stick to her job.

This movie would have been way better if their showdown had been in the middle of the movie, and they then later would have fought a REAL enemy, from outside Wakanda.

Also, 2 BPs fighting each other in their suits just wasn't thrilling. They just threw each other around, but you knewn they were protected by their armor… it kind of was obsolete.

2) BP shines when he's around non-Wakandians. His interaction with Agent Watson were always fun. His fight in Big trouble in Little Tokyo were great. Also in Civil war, he was a great contrast to everyone else.

3) Less Wakanda, more "somewhere else". Loved Wakanda and how they stuck to the comic books (traditional African Clothing – that is hightech from head to toe, spears etc…). But the whole fighting in Wakanda was less thrilling than when BP was outside, in Korea or in the USA during Civil war. That "Army fight" just wasn't very inspiring. It looked like 2 hooligan teams fighting each other on a patch of grass… not 2 Armies. Again, show us Wakanda, but then put BP somewhere outside. Cap 1 had the same problem for me, the WW2 enviroment just… was meh. But Cap in the modern world: Great.

4) Why did they talk in English with an accent? It just makes no sense. You have 2 logical choices: A) they speek wakandian and you have a subtitle. Now obviously, this shit won't fly in America. People can't read unless there's a Facebook logo somewhere. But then you have to go with B) everybody speaks normal English (well… US english lol). That way, it's quasi-dubbed. We just hear the dubbed english version of what they're saying. But them speaking in English among themselves, with an accent??? It makes no sense at all. It happens all the time in movies… Russians speaking among themselves in English with a Russian accent, plain stupid.

5) No well developped drama. For example the space ships that were leaving and Luke Watson having to shoot them down… it just wasn't clear enough or dramatic enough, that he HAD to get those ships or… or what? The Vibranium would go out to the spies around the world (in a few ships??) and they would start carrying out new BPs orders? well… after new BP got overthrown/beat… T'Challa could simply tell his spies: Ey, cancle that. Return the weapons. Proceed as usual. Done. There was no drama here.

Now obviously, I only listed bad things here, because the thread's purpose was to demonstrate why there is a 3 point gap to 10/10 for me. Let me say this loud and clear:

I ENJOYED THE MOVIE VERY MUCH. IT IS A GOOD MOVIE. THE MOVIE WAS NOT CLOSE TO AVERAGE LET ALONE BAD. IT WAS     G     O    O   D. The word good is a positive thing.

It was not phenomenal, universe shaking, groundbreaking or any of that – which still does not express that the movie was not good! Chill out.

PS: The mountain tribe, going "UUH UHH UUH" like apes and big guy even being called Gorilla: Where is the outrage? When that came on, I was like: uh oh, protests!

I found everything about it super cool. The Gorilla IS an African animal and a very powerful and intelligent one. I see no problem with tribes using that symbol as something positive, and only stupid white people will feel like the need to "save" somebody. But why do I not hear anthing about that, did I just miss it? SJW sleeping on the job???

Aren’t you late for your klan meeting you fucking racialist? 20/10!!!

OP nailed it. I slept through part of the movie although it wasn't awful.

7/10 seems fair. Good movie.

racist

Was it the triumph for the African American people that it was supposed to be?

Wakanda is waaaaay morr important than Black Panther. The whole reason they made a movie about this B list character is because Thanos is going to go after the vibranium. They had to show there was loooots of it.

Movie was 7.5 out of 10 for me. The villain was lame. Esspecially how they put like evil gangster music on whenever he showed up. I liked the movie though. I like anytything marvel makes.

I still think Logan is the best Marvel movie they've made but BP isn't far behind.

The Destroyer88 - I still think Logan is the best Marvel movie they've made but BP isn't far behind.

Is it better than spiderman home coming?

The Destroyer88 - I still think Logan is the best Marvel movie they've made but BP isn't far behind.

I liked both, and both are not in the top 3 Marvel for me.

You're crazy, Logan was far and ahead the best marvel movie to date. Second goes to Winter's soldier. I'm seeing BP today.

Was it supposed to be though? Why?

Who says, they didnt just make the black panther movie. You know... the guy, who's from Africa. And is a king there? And most of the movie plays IN Wakanda and is about people from Wakanda.

OMFG SO MANY BLACKS IN THE LEAD! This must be some pro Black SJW shit!!!

lol, some people are just too funny.

My only question about this movie, and the only question that matters, does Black Panther represent the strong black man in a way that would be respected by the Human Tornado, AKA Dolemite?

Winter Soldier would be my No1.

Then, I'd have a tie on a few movies, that everybody else would score lower.

- Iron Man. Because for me, this was the first fun Superhero Movie of the modern times that actually felt like a comic in moving pictures. Starks, the Armour, everything felt exactly like in the comic. They had a lengthy origin story - and still wasnt boring. So I have to give props. I think most of the flak comes from Iron Man fatique. But that movie was great.

- Avengers. YES, it was over the top and cheesy and so on BUT: They managed to put that amount of heroes in ONE movie, none of them fell short, the movie didnt feel like the characters were mashed in just for fucks sake, and the glue between the team was there. Look at years later, what DC did with the Justice League. People take it for granted today, but putting that many heroes who can have their own movies into one film is hard. In the justice league, it felt like most of them weren't even aware they were part of a team. No life, no charm.

- Guardians of the Galaxy: Because they said fuck you, YES we're taking the most off the beaten track hero team out there and will make people love it. And they did.

I liked Logan, but knowing what I know, if I were forced to skip one of the above mentioned movies, it would be Logan. I would watch Cap II, Iron Man, Avengers, GotG.

Lights Out Lurker -

It was pretty good, nothing special. Tried way too hard to have all black people, and make fun of white people.

that is a subjective thought that you have to explain to me.

Why did it try hard to have all black people?

African Hero from Africa who is King in an African Land, a Story about an uprising in that African Land with African Uprisers.

Why the hell would there not be mostly black people? Having white people there, is "trying to hard".

JasonJ -

is michael b jordan a good actor?

He's not a bad actor. Is he special? idk

I've only seen him in Creed

^^ civil war was awful

Ghengiseanie -

How the fuck is Deadpool not your best marvel movie?? I rank as Follows. If include X-Men..

Deadpool/Logan

Thor Ragnarok

avengers civil War

guardians of the Galaxy

Spiderman homecoming Dr strange

cap America Winter soldier

Avengers-xmen days of Future past

Wolverine iron Man

Captain America

Thor

Thor Dark World

All the shit xmen movies.

The early two hulk movies.

Because I was under the impression, that Deadpool did NOT belong to Marvel? Has that changed?

Yes, he's a Marvel Character, but if we're talking about how Marvel is making it's movies and decisions, I can't just take Deadpool (who would be instantly in my top two by the way).

The rest of your list is almost exactly how I would go on with my list.

New Thor way up there, but also Civil War (where again, too many bitched about).

Spiderman Homecoming is right behind.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE X-men, mainly because they are even more a team of superheroes that spends all day in a lab fighting as a team to train and get better... .but then in the movie fights, just everybody goes out and bar-fights one on one, with the occasional cgi superppower.

Also, the fucking black leather shit suits.

BUT: Days of future Past was great.

but again: It's not Marvel owned movie material. Like the fantastic 4 LOL

So what your saying is, the movie was the greatest you’ve ever seen. It was at least 500 out of 10 stars. You loved that everybody spoke with accents, the villian was the best ever, and the ending was great.
