Low-T and Fighters...

I don't know shit about low testosterone, but I read recently that several fighters like Hendo, Chael, Marquardt, and Hallman suffer from Low-T. I assume, as long as their need is documented by a legit doctor and approved by a standards commission, they are good to go and can fight.

In theory then, what would stop any fighter from going to the 'right' doctor (or any doctor for that matter) to be diagnosed as Low-T and getting supplementation to get them to the max level allowed by a commission? Maybe a fighter isn't super low, but lower middle for their age, can they just boost to the max limit allowed?

Isn't that what 'lifestyle' doctors like Dr. Jeffrey Life do, they boost your testosterone to the 'upper levels' for your age range to ensure an 'adequate' quality of life? Playing Devil's advocate then, isn't a fighter NOT boosting to the max allowable measure of testosterone just sacrificing a competitive edge?

Here we go Phone Post

Hmmm..

Wasn't there a thread on here at some point last year where someone gave all the details on how they went about getting their Dr's approval for TRT?

I'll try and pull that up for you

I'm guessing that there is a 'normal range' relative to a fighter's age.

If that's the case, can a fighter that's been measured to be 'lower middle' be classified as Low-T, or does that fighter truly have to be completely outside of the middle / normal range (even if they are legit lower middle) to qualify for TRT?

Is it possible to fuck up your natural T production by abusing steroids?

You have to be tested to be diagnosed with low T, so I'd imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor who could convince a lab to falsify a lab report when it could very realistically get them shut down

I wondered about this too.

What level is an older guy with low test allowed to get back up to?

Is there a 'normal' level based on your age, or can a guy in his 40s get treated back up to the level of a guy in his athletic prime?

If your body can't endure the rigors of competing /training anymore due to age, shouldn't that be when you hang em up?

Not trying to hate on anyone, I imagine it must be hard to face that fact especially after being a serious competitor for your whole life, but it's really weird that you can get an exemption for this IMO.

As far as I know, that's what Dr. Life (the jacked 60 year old Vegas doctor who advertises in the airline magazines) espouses... getting you to your max level regradless of age (but, usually, for those in their mid 30s and above).

Check him out. I'd give it a shot if I had the disposable income like that.

Wife and 3 kids.   :(

Ban it from the sport. Period.

they have the same dr. as michael jackson

In every interview I've heard relating to MMA and steroids when asked (Sherdog has done great, in-depth interviews with several steroid specialists regarding this very question), every endochronologist has acknowledged that the odds of an athlete at the age at which we're talking about needing TRT naturally is very small, and that if they need it it's nearly guaranteed that it's because they abused steroids in their past and fucked their body's natural testoterone production up.

I don't care about steroids personally, but I do find it interesting people seem to be willing to just be cool with TRT when the odds are that if you're on it, you likely caused it to yourself through anabolic abuse in the past.

ttt

Ha, so now Rampage is revealing a Low-T diagnosis.

Floodgates opening on this now. EVERY fighter will be running to their doctor for their 'diagnosis'.
