The Rogers/Arlovski bout brought up a slight annoyance I've had for a while in that fighters are dropping their hands when they throw low kicks.
When I previously trained in kickboxing/shootfighting we were always taught to extend our arm forwards when throwing right (or left) low kicks so our shoulders and upperarm would keep part of the head protected to stop any incoming counter straights.
Thoughts?
rotate your shoulder forward to cover your chin as you drop your hand. the problem is throwing the hand down or back because the momentum will pull the shoulder away from the chin
Not to mention when people don't rotate into the kicks, keeping their body square. This makes it almost impossible to cover the chin with the "kicking side" shoulder.
