Luis “Sapo” Santos 58-8 extends contract with XFC

Right now, the hottest topic in mixed martial arts is promotion versus promotion. Although the UFC and Bellator have made it clear they have no interest in the hypothetical dream matchups, several top promoters and networks in the industry have not only embraced the idea and have dropped their name in the proverbial hat; they are preparing for it! When you go to “war” you want your best guys on the front line, so the XFC’s John Prisco pulled off one of the company’s biggest resignings this week, when he once again secured the services of Brazilian Buzzsaw Luis “Sapo” Santos.

While “Wrecking Ball” was one of last year’s biggest pop hits, it’s also the best description for Sapo’s incredible 2013. The Brazilian went on a complete tear last year, fighting an astounding five times in seven months. Between April and October, Santos competed three times for the XFC and twice outside of the company; never seeing round two of any contest. Out of a possible fifteen rounds, Luis Santos saw just enough action to equal one. His path of destruction left names such as Dave Courchaine and Shamar Bailey scratching their heads in disbelief, as they tied to understand what just happened to them.
