Had he fought Anderson Silva on July 6, 2013 instead of Chris Weidman, I think that he, too, would've been too much for a declining Silva. Thoughts?

I don't think so. Anderson on 7/6/13 was still matrix-ing shit for the most part until he finally ate Weidman's left follow up follow up. Rockhold's stand up, though powerful as a motherfucker, is actually pretty basic. His overhand left and left body kick make up about 95% of his striking. He just wouldn't have been diverse enough to hit Anderson, who would've countered the balls off him. Had it hit the ground, then Rockhold may have beat the shit out of him, but I doubt it would've made it there.

I think Rockhold even beats prime Silva! As god as Silva was, some of his opponents were absolute cans! You cannot knock him for the fact there were just no guys there but some of his opponents were average at best..

You guys are so fickle it's untrue, Vitor wheel kicked Luke's face off and that was the same Vitor that Silva trashed with ease.
I know mma math isn't an exact science but the truth is Anderson is now old and is a shell of his old self and Luke has got way better since joining the UFC.
Obviously today's Rockhold Bludgeons today's Silva but 2012/13 Anderson (drugs or not) was a beast and would've most likely tooled Rockhold the same way Belfort did

Depends on how you want to define better. Chris’s is definitely more diverse. Luke’s is a lot more powerful, but comparatively much more basic. Utilizes left body kick, and left overhand and not much else whereas Chris uses kicks from both sides, hooks, crosses, footwork, feints, step in elbows….. fuck, even a jab, so take from that what you will.
With all of that said, basic is no bueno vs. Anderson Silva in 2013 and before.
He also has the check hook, but yeah his stand up is not very basic and simple. Though effective.

People forget how Anderson completely ran through and entire division for years on end. Luke is mother fucker, but Anderson was absolutely incredible in his prime. Would have been an incredible fight.
