Luke Thomas and John Kavanagh arguing on Twitter

So Kavanagh got super offended over nothing, then acted condescenging when Luke asked him to clarify? Strange, wouldn't have imagined him acting like that after the few interviews I've seen him in.

That is not how I read that exchange at all. Thomas is being pig ignorant. He is told staight from the horses mouth that Danis is a sparring partner and not 'McGregor's BJJ Coach.' Instead of accepting this, he begins a sarcastic (and pretty fucking stupid) semantic dissection of the term "sparring partner" before declaring "it's a bit hard to accept his mere role is sparring, be it specialized or otherwise."

All sparring partners, particularly specialists, will dispense technical knowledge in addition to sparring. Is anyone going around calling Joe Schilling Nick Diaz'/Donald Cerrone's Muay Thai coach? The argument is fucking inane and if Thomas wasn't such a walking ego he would simply acknowledge the mistake and correct his tweet as opposed to arguing as if he knows more than McGregor's ACTUAL BJJ COACH. His correction tweet sums the bloke up:

".@John_Kavanagh says - per my Danis-Agazarm news from last night - Danis is not a coach of McGregor, but more a sparring partner. #SUG3"

A 'journalist' who doesn't understand how to use the word 'per,' sounds about right.

Agreed.

Agree with this agreement. Luke Thomas is a bit of a dumbass at times. Like this time.

This 100%

Luke should have just said; "You're right my mistake, he's not his coach he just trains with him."

That would have been the end of it but Luke thinks he's some sort of MMA media genius.

but he doesnt just trane with him...he is teaching conor bjj...that is a bjj coach...call him a supplementary coach if you want, if that saves kavanaugh's ego, but he is a bjj coach to conor, not just sparring or training partner

I guess we have different definitions of coach. Is everyone who comes into a camp and teaches someone their speciality suddenly their coach? Not in my opinion. Especially when they already clearly have a coach who's been there for years. Coach has a certain meaning to it.

Either way, Luke knew what John was saying and he just couldn't bring himself to let it go.

He's not just anyone. He is a top bjj guy that was brought in after conor got schooled in bjj by Nate. He wasn't there for an 8 week camp. He's there apparently full time. He corners Conor. He teaches Conor bjj.

Which part of this do do you think makes him just a sparring partner and not a coach?

The part where Kavanagh - Conor's coach - clarifies that he is not his coach? Or do you and Luke thomas know better than Kavanagh what someone's role is in that camp?

Kavanagh learned, teaches and focuses on the aspects of BJJ more applicable to MMA & self defence.

I haven't followed Danis's BJJ career tbh but I'm guessing his expertise is more sport orientated.

That might be why Kavanagh is being adamant in maintaining he is still very much Conor's BBJ coach.

Yep, and it's 100% ego. He fancies himself an intellectual. He can't be wrong, he's too smart.

Why would he say my mistake if he's not mistaken? That's what the discussion was about.

Because he is mistaken.

Ego is crazy with kavanagh. Has he competed at black belt?

If he was brought in to train Conor in BJJ than he is one of his BJJ coaches. Thats what a coach does....

Like at my work we have had chefs come in and work with us....we call them chef....are they our places chef? No but they are coming in and cooking eith us or for us...

He came in to teach conor BJJ...hes not learning shit from conor lol he is one of his coaches now....
