Lytle should have won

What a fight!

Tough to pick a loser. I thought Lytle took the center of the cage and held it. Rooted for Davis, but he was unable to find the range with counter punching like he probably thought he would.

Lylte cracks me up. In stead of advancing forward like a decent human being that a boxer (Davis) can take an angle off of, Lylte just bumrushed him over and over throwing haymakers!

Ahhh!!! Run away!!! I really like Davis, but I'm surprised he got a W after literally running away like David Loiseau.

It was a close fight.  I thought it was a great way to start the show and by far the best fight of the night.

Could have gone either way depending on how you score the fight.  Chris landed with more power and was more aggressive, but Davis landed more especially after Lytle's pace slowed a bit.

In his last 5 of his last 6 UFC fights Lytle has won either Fight of the Night, Knockout, or Submission of the night.  He is the most exciting fighter in the UFC.

he was to wild

giboo - lytle should have won and there comes a time to through out the agreement and get a takedown

Totally agree.

I like both guys, but I thought the agreement was beyond stupid. You fight to win.

I'm guessing Lytle figures he isn't going to get a title shot, and probably wont ever have the belt, but he wants the big money, so standing and trading gives him a better shot at the fight of the night bonus, rather then taking a guy down and possibly not finishing him and missing out on the cash.

Regardless of whether he wins or loses, he's one of my all time favorite fighters.

Does anyone have more losses in the UFC than Chris Lytle?

TUF-Comeback season was supposed to be "All or Nothing".

The winner gets a shot at the title, and everyone else is done forever in the UFC.

lytle is getting tons of fights win or lose.
maybe that's his strategy

Close fight but I definitely gave it to Chris 29 to 28

GIF of Davis running?

I had it pretty clean for Marcus at 29-28. In round 2, Lytle had the one moment up against the fence, but that whole sequence was 10-15 seconds of the round, and Marcus landed the better shots the rest of the round. If you just watched round 2 and didn't score it, yeah...it looked like Lytle got the better of it, but Marcus landed more punches and much more kicks in that round. A 15 second flurry doesn't win you a round if you get out boxed the rest of it. I love Lytle, but I had it 29-28 Marcus, but it was close enough that I can see people saying 29-28 the other way.

toss up fight can't really be seperated imo

Lytle has had some amazing fights recently. Alves fight was great, Taylor fight was an epic slugfest and now this was pretty entertaining as well. And 40k extra for the FOTN again.

Yes, a close split descision usually indicates that one of the fighters were outclassed.

I thought the fact that Chris had to chash him for three rounds was going to sway it.  It was a close fight but Chris controlled the tempo and the ring.

great fight.

It was close, but I thought Lytle won. The pro-Davis crowd might have helped in the decision.

Lytle should have won!

In a stand up fight, the person who lands more clean effective strikes wins the fight. It's pretty basic. Not the person who keeps walking forward swings wildly and hits very little.

I would tend to agree with this. Though often in the US judges, whether it be for MMA or boxing, tend to favor the fighter coming forward.
