It's not like he held the choke for too long after the ref called it. In the gif, Machida lands on his butt first, then falls to his face. How was Jones supposed to do it? I've never seen a fighter gently and politely let go of a sub. If someone's trying to knock you out, wouldn't feel a little good to drop his sleeping body to the floor and walk away?
Yes, Cro Cop should have caught his opponents and laid them down gently after left high kicking their heads off. It's the right thing to do.

 Damn.

This

Jones has a history of being classless in the octagon. Remember when when he round was over and he threw rampage off him, and then admitted it was to "show his dominance". The round was over, there was no need to throw him off. Machida was out. There was no need to do that Phone Post

He really did not drop face first...He dropped to his knee, bounced off the cage and then land on his face....I was thinkin he just let him go and landed hard...but that dont even look that bad

I'm not a Jones fan, although I have respect for his skill as a fighter.

But what else could he do? The only leverage he had was his arms around his neck. If he slowly lowered him to the ground he'd be choking him for longer. That sounds more dangerous to me.

It even looks somewhat gentle to me. The ref tells you to let go, you let go, you don't keep the hold and lower him with it. Being choked unconscious is no joke. No matter what he did there it would have looked awkward. Should he have let go of the submission and quickly got double underhooks while they head clashed? Then hug as he gently lays Machida to the ground? Otherwise there aren't many options.

Lol at everyone who acts like they would gently lay their choked out opponent on the floor after he tried to knock your face into oblivion.

I'm sure all of you would have grabbed Machida a pillow and his favorite bed time story to make sure he was tucked in properly. Phone Post

lol, you're a bitch.

Maybe the ref should have caught him seeing as he was right there and that's his job

The way Machida fell to the floor was fuckong scary. He was strangled by that choke. Phone Post

Now Ill admit there have been several fights ive missed over the years. But can someone show me 1 fight where a guy gently laid his opponent down after he choked him out? Thanks in advance.

Not funny...

the people crying ARE funny. humor is subjective. we're watching a bloodsport, never understood some of the sissy attitude of it's fans

I thought Mihow's original post and the edit where fucking hillarious. So I guess it was funny.

Wow Phone Post

WoW...

Not actually as violent a finish as I was expecting but I had a feeling that Jon was going to do something crazy.

Was pulling for Lyoto but I am also realistic.

What a dick, he's no Robbie lawlor, lawlor will help you extend your legs to a more comfortable position after he knocks you out cold Phone Post

very disrespectful to not pull a pillow out of your shorts and rest machidas unconscious head on it.
