Machida's account of Negotiations with UFC

more

They have gotten more relaxed about it in case you haven't noticed. Look at Mike Brown.

They gave CC a million dollars to fight Mir on short notice.

IMO short notice fights should = bigger money

the training camp in the US being expensive seems like a pretty good reason to want more money

Uhh no. They are not more relaxed.

Whoever lost that fight was gonna get cut.... and that's exactly what happened.

 i concur with lyoto

There are a bunch of ignorant 'tards posting in here. What in all of this makes Dana such an ass? That he said Machida was asking for AS $$??? HE WAS!! Dana didn't make that up, Machida confirmed it!! And had Dana paid it, for one he'd be doing it to please fans with a great fight, but two - you same idiots would be bitching that Machida shouldn't make as much as AS because he hasn't accomplished what AS has!! Should Charlie Batch make the same as Tom Brady because the starter got hurt and the coach needs him to play??

Not to mention everyone commending Machida for holding out, needing a full camp because of professionalism and 3 weeks notice to fight the #2 isn't enough time, etc. BS!!! Had Dana agreed to the $, he would've fought!! It was a money issue, not professionalism, not principle, not anything else. Why can't people ever see things how they are and not how they wish them to be?!?! Phone Post

Then, I said, ‘If you want me to fight, pay me as a champion. Pay me like you pay Anderson Silva.’”
So much for all those Lyoto defenders who were saying, "He would never do that. It must have been his sleazy manager."  Makes Machida look terrible.

Are you ok?

It seems you post the exact same shit on every Machida thread

Glad you're reading.

Reminds me of when Pride would try to get someone to fight CroCop, Fedor or some other killer on 3 weeks notice.  But they'd pay big money to make it worth your while so some guys wouldn't be able to say no.

ANYONE!!!!--------

There is no source for the OP. Am I missing something? No one has asked an "11er" and a black namer to show where he got this quote from?????

You can easily copy and paste parts of the article on google and confirm where it came from.

I'll save ya the trouble just because I'm feeling nice.

Darup -  This doesn't help Machida at all, he basically confirmed everything Dana said.

Machida accepted the fight and then later tried to back out and demand more money.
Where does he say he took the fight and backed out? <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

“My manager, ‘Joinha’ [Jorge Guimaraes], called me and I said at first that I was excited to be in the lineup. But, after meeting with my team, we saw that it wouldn’t be a good idea, especially because Dana White wanted me to travel to the U.S. immediately to have my training camp there.
When he first said that he was excited to be in the lineup, Joinha probably told Dana the fight was on. And then Lyoto backtracked after talking to his camp. Seems like his manager jumped the gun.

I appreciate that good sir/ma'am. It seemed very legit, I was just shocked there was no source provided...

LOL at all the people that claimed that the article was made up or Dana White was lying.
LOL at all the people who believe anything Dana says.

ah I take it you were one of those people that posted there was no way Machida said that.

machida was smart to turn the fight down. he already ko'd rashad very quickly in one of the best highlight reel ko's ever, plus machida is coming off a spectacular win with another highlight reel ko and rashad is coming off a lackluster decision win in which he got beat up. nothing to gain, everything to lose. also, tito was already in fighting shape for the bader fight, and he has tons to gain by fighting rashad - he can erase the draw and make himself a contender, which machida already is. completely different situations

I also want to draw your attention to this: Machida was willing to take the fight but Dana White wanted Machida to come to the US immediately to train there instead. Obviously, Machida would have been leaving behind many of his coaches and training partners who didn't have enough time to get visas.

This is the reason stated for Machida asking for a raise in taking the fight as he would not just be taking it on short notice, he also would be without some of his trainers and what-not.

Zamiel - Why would Dana be telling him where to train anyway? Weird.

Its probably cheaper to film the UFC Countdown this way and Machida will be made to go to radio shows and whatever and do media. This would be asking way too much. This needs to be all put out there as Dana White can't just be cheap and prevent us from having decent main events.

This

I cant believe some of you pansies crying about contract negotiations breaking down. You kids need to go out and get a job to see how the real world operates.

Machida wanted a bigger stake to fight for and to offset/mitigate his possible losses, had he lost due to lack of time.

I don't see what the big deal is...

And if that's true - we've just heard Machida's side - then Machida has a very good point. Taking a fight on short notice is one thing. Having to move, arrange a camp in a foreign country in a short time is another ... the only way to get that done quickly so as not to lose a lot of time is to throw money at it ... trying to do it economically means spending a week or two just getting the camp going. If you're going to ask a fighter to do something like that, you have to expect to pay his expenses.
