Madden on PS4 - Complicated?

I used to love Madden on the MegaDrive/Genesis, and would quite like to get back into it, but are the new games horribly complicated? Can anyone recommend a good arcade style NFL game?

Thanks, James

Madden can be very complex. But at the same time is very beginner friendly. Take me for example, I know next to nothing about Football and I still get along fairly well. The tutorials are very well done and taught me more than enough to feel confident while playing.

I bought 16 last year, and it's a great game. I will probably end up buying 17 as well Phone Post 3.0

i used to love madden. i had not played it in many years. then i got madden 2016. the gameplay was pretty much the same. it only took a few games for me to get the hang of it again. the biggest issue was finding my way around the menu's

the game itself i found to be fun. but i was turned off by all this madden cards and other shit. it made the whole game seem a clusterfuck. ads trying to sell me cards . it wasn't just a simple play season quick  match. i had to  run  around a menu filled alot of bullshit to get to a game. because of this i only played like 8 games before i got tired of it. it took to long  from booting the games till i started playing.

it also no longer has the  whole getting drafted shit. i used to like that but it is all gone now

Can I still play using only 3-4 buttons? One of the reasons I've stopped playing PES/FIFA is how complicated they've become - I feel I need 20 fingers to be able to cope with modifiers and trick sticks and crap like that.

it is like mr dt_mma said. itr can be very complex. but you can make do with far less. i don't think you can use 3 buttons. i think you will have to use all of them at some point. but you can let the wr catch on it's own. you can just press the target wr key without hitting the extra keys to pick the type of pass.

you don't need to make use of alot of the extra features

Like others have said you can make the game really simple, if you don't want call every play, you can use the suggested plays. If you don't want to play defense, you can sim until you get the ball back. It's very flexible to adapt to different player skill levels. Phone Post 3.0

Awesome, cheers for the responses guys.

Playing the whole team was a bit overwhelming to me as a complete newb to football games. So did a career mode a QB for a bit. Then as a WR. Then RB and so on. Only a few hours on each one, just to get a feel.

I'm still shit, but less shit than before. The tutorials/drills section is very good. Phone Post 3.0
