Today on Good Morning America, Ronda Rousey announced that her next fight would be against Holly Holm not Miesha Tate, which came as a complete shock to Tate's manager and will be to Tate herself. Neither was notified in advance in the change of plans:

"I'm absolutely shocked," Josh Jones of KHI Management told MMAFighting.com. "I found out just like you did. Very disappointed to hear the news."

Friday morning at 7:49 a.m. ET, Rousey announced on "Good Morning America" that she will be fighting Holly Holm at UFC 195 on Jan. 2. As of 10:17 a.m. ET, Jones believed Tate, who lives on the West Coast, was still unaware she wasn't going to get a third crack at Rousey. Tate was promised a title shot after defeating Jessica Eye last month in Chicago, her fourth win a row.

"I want to know the reasons behind [the decision]," Jones said. "To not even be given a head's up is very disappointing. She doesn't even know yet. She is going to be absolutely shocked."

Jones said Tate had already begun training for the Rousey trilogy fight, and her sponsors were already under the assumption she was fighting Rousey next.

Yeah that's fucked up Phone Post 3.0

This makes me sad. This isn't a bad move if they're working with Tate on the Cyborg matchup. To keep them in the dark? Yeah.. That's shit.

My only thought is that both Miesha and Cyborg aren't the best PR wise and could have been a risk to leak the info. But damn.. Phone Post 3.0

Crazy they are going with this. This is the best and last chance to cash in on Miesha/Ronda but they throw Holly in who realistically could use 2-3 wins before fighting for the belt. Phone Post 3.0

They should have gave her a heads up but I agree with decision. No interest whatsoever in watching her and Ronda fight a third time Phone Post 3.0

Cheer up Meisha! You're getting the Cyborg fight! Phone Post 3.0

The only way this makes sense is if they are secretly setting up Tate vs Cyborg for December, winner gets next title shot.

Bummed for Miesha. Phone Post 3.0

People seem to think this is happening but based on what? It would be great if true. Phone Post 3.0
Based on nothing. Just like everyone assumed Bigfoot was fighting fedor based on a tweet that Bigfoot was excited. Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Phone Post 3.0

Tate was never my friend.

me neither, but it would at least be a better fight.

All fighters should know that nothing is set until contracts are signed. The concensus was that Miesha was getting the shot, but the ufc changed plans. It's business .. Phone Post 3.0

jgiveshead - Tate was never my friend.
Lol Phone Post 3.0

Understand why they picked Holm, but it's pretty shitty of them to "give" Miesha the shot, then take it away and not even let her know about it.

Pretty low. Phone Post 3.0

Unequivocally, her comments had nothing to do with her getting passed up for a title shot. I can't be more firm on that. There are a variety of reasons that she was passed up, but nothing to do with her comments on Ronda. She's trying to paint this thing as, she said some stuff about Ronda and as a result, she was passed up. It's just not true. That's not the reason why she was passed up. I can't be more clear on that.

Shocked?!? Here's a clue... how about the fact that promoters only book a "trilogy" fight (commonly referred to as the "rubber match") when the fighters have SPLIT the first two fights.

That sounds like no fun to her lol.
She goes to bed thinking that her and Ronda will be grappling on a bed of feathers and she wakes up to find Cyborg coming at her full steam with both arms throwing vicious roundhouses !
Fuck sake. Phone Post 3.0

I wonder if they were trying to renegotiate the contract

As a big fan of Ronda I am turned off by this announcement. As tiresome as it seemed, Tate was in line. Cyborg is the fight everyone wants. Holm is nowhere near ready and no one knows who she is.

Now, I want to see Holm get some ridiculous upset win and ruin all the dumb plans that are behind this. Phone Post 3.0
