just say you took Melvin Manhoef at the age of 8 and put him with Rickson Gracie training bjj...later on, you have him train under Dick Roufus...what happens??would you have a world champion or just a top 20 mma fighter?
who is the most explosive yet technical Bjj fighter in mma?my guess is Jacare?
He would be top 20 but not a champ.
He leaves himself open quite a lot due to his aggressive style.
^ yes. Melvin is very hittable and his chin is not the best.
ShowtimeKnee - He would of benefited more if he could of developed a sound wrestling game and submission defense rather then having a good guard.
Agree with this.
Melvin with improved TD defense would have been a monster with the sprawl n brawl.

To call him the word you used was surprising and unneeded.

Just Jokin';
Melvin would have been even more of a maniac with the proper development.
Melvin is a sprawl n brawl fighter. His TD defense is also pretty damn good... just look at the Tim Kennedy fight. Tim was just too persistent with the TDs. He would've been better off earning at least a blue belt in BJJ and concentrating on defense.

Especially the "get back up" techniques to compliment the takedown defense. Chuck made a HOF career on that ........at the same time Melvin was fighting. I got ridiculed by posters for suggesting Manhoef would give Chuck all he could handle during Liddell's run.
I've seen many ppl train BJJ for years and not get very good at it...
He'd be Kevin Casey
BJ Penn was the most techincal BJJ fighter we will ever see.
Imo of course.
