This was Feb 2007, 4 man Tournament with Marcos Avellan, Gregor Gracie, Leo Dalla, and Marcelo. Gregor beat Dalla via points, Marcelo submitted Avellan and then Gregor to win. Phone Post

jude099 - ...aaaaah. got it. TheMGinaction rashguard threw me... i didn't think that was around then.

I was there! It was awesome to see Marcelo competing in a local tournament.

The rashguard he is wearing was his signature rashguard, not an mginaction one. I dont think mginaction came about until late 2009 or so.

I'm also a fan of the Avellan brothers- but I remember during the match, Marcos sat to guard against Marcelo- still not sure why he did that, as Marcos has excellent takedowns and guard passing (and the last thing you might want to do is to have Marcelo trying to pass your guard).

Why did I think that Bill Scott was in this tournament also?

I think he was an alternate, he did have a match, I'll have to watch the DVD again. Phone Post

Is the match against Avellan available anywhere?

I remember that tournament. Gregor ended up shoving the ref's face and took the mic saying some shit that the ref was talking shit about his mother or some shit like that.

He got boo'd like a m'fucka.

According to another post above, it was a four man tourney, so that must've been Avellan vs. Marcelo in the first match of the posted video.

Thanks for the video, OP.

Is Gregor mentally unstable?

Grapper's Quest Beast of the East III in 2007.

I remember after winning his matches Marcelo stuck around and would stand alone watching the amateurs compete. It was my first tournament and made a big impression of how humble he is.

He just showed the single leg defense to the crucifix on mg in action yesterday. Incredible.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing and yeah I believe that was David Avellan against Marcelo in the first video. You could see he was wearing an FFA rashie!
