Marcelo v. Jimmy Pedro

Jimmy actually looks like he knows how to pass.... somewhat.

I'm sure he's been training with BJJ guys for quite some time.

Jimmy has been training with a lot of the local BJJ guys here for a long time now.

Yeah, well Marcelo had some good fun with him it looks like.

Just goes to show how the rules of the sport determine the winner, or at least the heavy favorite. Each one would dominate in their respective element (standing or ground).

Jimmy made his a career (2x oly medalist, world champ) off guard passing....even before BJJ was a popular sport (Jimmy medaled in the 1991 worlds). I have seen Jimmy compete against the best newaza practitioners and clown them with 100% judo. Though, he may have "rolled" a few times with some BJJ guys, he never trained BJJ seriously.

Jimmy looks great for having been retired almost 7yrs.

Marcelo makes everything look easy.

DAMNIT! does anybody have a code to watch that?

Cod? What code? I don't belong to mginaction and c&p the url works for me.

It just so happens that promo code "sloth" will get you a free week on the site. :)

Jimmy is nasty both standing and on the ground. I didn't watch the video yet but it's cool to see them do some training together.

Yeah he did good. I think Marcelo was impressed but you could tell how pissed Pedro was when he had to tap. Its awesome to see him out of his training element, out of his competitive career, go with the world's best on the ground.

He did good, but Marcelo is clearly better.

TTT for Pedro
TTT for Marcelo

Jimmy's tap was based on a stalemate position, no clear sub was in place...

very cool vid. Jimmy is good no doubt.

I'm pretty sure he tapped to the armlock from the crucifix position. Marcelo had Pedros arm trapped with his legs and bridged his hips at the elbow to get the tap.

Crucifix armlock. Phone Post

Pedro was a guest. Marcelo went fairly light. Expecting Pedro to be able to beat Marcelo on the ground is just as ridiculous as expecting Marcelo to beat Pedro off the feet.
