can some one please explain it.
Knee cut...sorry to overwelm you with detail...
Is Google broken in your internets?
wow thank you sooo much
I was sad to see that this pass wasn't even on the Margarida 101 DVD set.
Can someone explain the De La Riva guard? Thanks.
How do armbar?
What's a mount?
What is "doing this"
Doing what?
how do you tap black belts?
Watch the Braulio vs Margarida on Youtube. Braulio has an effective defense against Margarida's pass.
One key to the pass which isn't shown in that series is that you want to drive your knee straight forward onto the chest, not over his leg. You come right on top of him (hope he's got a cup btw ....). Then you go bring the knee down and over.
Mighty, I think that is one way of doing it, but definitely not the only way. Ive learned the pass from several different people and none showed it that way (not saying its wrong).
Andre, why did you switch grips to the opposite lapel? Cant he take your back like that broseph?
Mo,
The way I originally learned it in Brazil was to grab the lapel on the side you are passing and punch it to the mat as you lifted up hard on the sleeve with your other hand. By lifting hard on the sleeve and punching to the mat, the guy is prevented from going to your back. Other black belts have taught me to grab the lapel on the opposite side (instead of switching), and that has worked just as well. I generally dont switch these days.
I apologize for questioning the black belt:(
LOL...DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!! ;)
"Why is this the Margarida pass? lol This is a Judo move and an old one at that"....big deal. De La Riva didn't invent that guard either. Just the guy that popularized it and we started calling it that so everyone would know what we're talking about.
yeah - Mighty. I didn't learn the magarida pass that way either. However, I did learn a technique for passing dlr guard that did that...mostly b/c you've gotta get the guy onto his back.
