Marijuana in Japan?

Well, I suffer insomnia and I'm putting on weight from alcohol as a way to get to sleep. So I thought about weed but I've been reading on the laws here (Tokyo) and it's quite strict. If caught in possession of even a dimebag it means a huge fine, 1-2 years in prison, and being deported with no chance to come back to the country.

I've read that people buying from the Iranians around Shibuya have been caught and have had to go through that kinda stuff.

That sucks. I love this country, I've worked really hard to set up a life here, and I wouldn't give that up for anything. But I'm really suffering from sleeplessness.

I realize there's lots of legal ways to get high, but that's not my aim.

Anyone have any pointers for what I should do (within the Tokyo area) just to hook up with something decent (not looking to get high, just something to make me drowsy while I watch a film and pass into my next day of work)?

Thanks in advance.

Going by what you yourself just wrote,..you'd be a fool to even bother
with it. WHY!??..would you risk what you've worked so hard for to
sleep. There are other options..like training your ass off and sleeping
from exhustion,..and taking this is just stupid I think.

ttt for some good help for you thou..

Aside from the fact you would have to be pretty dumb to be messing with all that in Japan anyway.

You would also have to be fairly wealthy for it to be worth your while - due to the risk involved, that stuff ain't cheap.

What is the reason for your bad sleeping patterns?
Insomina?

I hope your sleeplessness doesn't make you develop an alter ego that wants to start underground fight clubs.

LOL at fight clubs, maybe that's how Pride started...

Nothing against getting high or smoking pot, but in Japan the risks far outweigh the benefits. Definetly not worth it...

Have you tried melatonin?

Also here's a link with some pretty good tips that might help you:

really?

Thanks for the responses, everyone.

I met an acquaintance who had been actually stopped by cops after buying some hash in Shibuya, and that dissuaded me from going any further with the issue.

I've tried melatonin, OTC medicine, tea, herbs, and some crazy prescription stuff that was supposed to knock me out but just turned me into a very awake alert mumbling idiot.

My sleep situation is not really insomnia, but I don't know what you'd call it.

I generally go on about 10 hours of sleep, but can get by with 8 hours if i can sleep more on the weekends. So, obviously I'm sleeping. However, I find it impossible to get to sleep til around 4 or 5am even though I am supposed to wake at 7 or 8 to get ready for work. I end up staying up that late, getting 3 hours of work a day for the whole work week, then sleeping til noon or later on the weekends.

I exercise in the evening, I walk in the mornings and on my lunch break. I'm generally pretty beat after work but it doesn't translate into sleep. It seems like my body wants to have a 30 hour day where I'm awake for 20 and sleep for 10. Not sure what to do.

A little toke and some food at night seemed like a good idea, but I guess not in this country.

Thanks again.

Try 5 HTP

i do not get it....just go see a doctor and ask him to prescripte you insomnia pill.

you need that much sleep?

i get like 5 if im lucky. 3 1/2 average.

Actually after re-reading your OG post,..you are putting on weight
cause you are drinking to fall asleep?,..pot makes you hungry as
f@#k,..didn't you think about pot = munchies?? I don't get your
rationalisation here?

If you exercise vigoursly at night, like training in martial arts, you could have exercise induced insomnia.

I was lucky when I lived in Japan. I had some Canadian friends who grew in the backasswoods of the countryside (in a district that had one 80-year-old sheriff who probably didn't even know what weed is). So I had safe ready access to the chronic. Otherwise, I never would have bothered. I have a Japanese friend who was caught with a roach and wound up doing 6 months in jail and had to pay a major fine. Weed falls under the same legal category as coke and heroine in Japan. Do not take any risks!

Hit the reggae clubs there, someone's bound to have it.

I smoked a couple of times when I lived in Japan, but as a rule I'd say the risks outweight the potential benefits.
