Mark Laimon is obnoxious

I just got a Grappler's Quest disk and I have to turn the volume off whenever one of Marc's students is competing because his constant verbal barrage gets on my nerves.

At any other tournament he would be kicked out! But since he has so competitors I guess he writes his own ticket.

Well I don't know if there is a rule that limits how much coaches can talk but maybe there should be.

I am sure in his mind he thinks his team comes first and he is doing it for them but man there has to be a limit to that.

I like to watch competitors figure out their own strategy instead of having every move dictated to them as they go.

I myself have been bombared with his insults and along with many other ref's or coaches thats on the same mat.

I think its pretty common knowledge that he is obnoxious!

They should label competition dvds according to whether or not they contain Laimon content.

If he is that disrespectful and obnoxious (I have not seen it firsthand), why not just tell him to shut up?

Whats he going to do? Pull Cobra Kai out of all competitions? I dont think his students would appreciate that too much.

Randy Bloom its because youre an idiot...well if you ask marc thats what he would say.

:)

Interesting.....

Forrest Griffin's Review of TUF3 - Episode 4 from Spiketv.com

"You can hear Tito trying to influence the judges with the remarks about the elbows Michael is landing from the bottom. This reminds me of a certain Marc Laimon."

Sucks that he has the #1 grappling team in the US, huh?

Wonder why that is....

About 6 months ago (right after Cobra Kai swept NAGA West I believe) Marc read a letter to his class written by a very angry coach from another team. He had a little sand in his vagina I guess. It basically summed up all the complaints that people have of him at tournaments. He told the class that if anyone had a problem with his coaching style that he would shut up for thier matches. Then he went around the class and asked individuals if they wanted him to change.

You know what they all said?

"No. Because we are winning."

And I guess that is what it all boils down to. Marc doesn't give a shit what you think. He cares about his students. It sounds to me like a few of you need some Vagisil for your sore, whiney pussies.

lol at him having the #1 grappling team since he has a lot of students competing in the local NAGA tourney close to him

shrug

They've won GrapplersQuest like 10x in a row now. Best of the West. Nevertap. NAGA. Just to name a few. They dominate all the major competitions here in the US. Deal with it.

On top of that they just got Jeff Glover to start teaching there.

This is not a swipe at Laimon, but BJJ should be more than just "winning".

It is also a martial arts, which should teach respect and honor.

bill jones--

is jeff glover no longer teaching at paragon? or is he at both paragon and cobra kai?

Do they allow that type of coaching in judo comps?

The top team concept is idiocy at its finest.  It would only mean something if every team sported the exact same amount of competitors in every division.

Also lol at the idea that one of Mark's students is actually going to tell him to shut up while they are still his student.

Mark's a great coach and is very passionate for his guys.

People think he's obnoxious because he speaks his mind and he has one of those voices that cuts through all background noise and goes directly into your tympanic membrane.

So for a team how they behave towards "outsiders" is irrelevant right?

Whether you dislike a referee's decision or not, it is never okay to insult them. Or do you think it is?

"Also lol at the idea that one of Mark's students is actually going to tell him to shut up while they are still his student."

I meant the tourney directors should tell him to shut up...
