Is it just me or does masvidal not get the accolades he deserves, dudes fought a lot of tuff guys I think he should be getting a bigger name opponent soon.
very tough guy
I think because he fell short against Melendez and Khabilov there's the perception that he can hang with top guys but never be the champ, though I personally scored the Khabilov fight in his favor. So, in my mind, he's on a nice little streak himself. His MMA wrestling has gotten remarkably good, and he was already a force on the feet.
I'd live to see Gamebred vs Cowboy headline a TV card, or co-headline on PPV.
Kelvin Gastelum fan - A win over Cerrone would be big.Would be a great fight too.
Durable as hell and pretty technical, but it just gets old knowing his fights are more than likely going to a decision. Needs more killer instinct. He has the talent to be a fan favorite, just something is missing, cant put my finger on it though.
I love Masvidal. I've been a fan since he fought Paul Daley and was robbed of a win, but i've loved him since he beat KJ Noons in one of the most soul breaking performances ever. The kind of performance that has ruined Noons to this day, KJ is so scared to come forward and attack. He was crippled by what Masvidal did to him. Easily one of my favourite lightweights.
That being said, i have been incredibly underwhelmed since he came to the UFC. He gets dropped a lot, his stand up isn't nearly as solid because he seems to have abandoned any kind of defence and his jab has all but disappeared. He relies on his grappling, which is great, but he went from being one of the best boxers in the lightweight division to being a guy with a serviceable stand up game, but better wrestling with a suspect chin, and on top of all that, he is so passive. It hurts when i see him come forward looking at a guy, knowing that this is a guy who made a good prospect in Evangelista quit with nothing more than technical aggression and a rock solid boxing game, that walked KJ Noons down, avoided every strike and dealt with it with venom and hatred, crippling him forever. He just doesn't attack, and it hurts. It's the same feeling i get when I watch KJ fight, i love him so much, i want him to succeed, but he just fucking looks at the guy. He's not feinting, he's not throwing feeler strikes, he's not trying to lead them into anything, he's just walking them down and when they throw, he covers up and doesn't respond with anything. Masvidal is a good fighter with a solid amount of respect who should be a great fighter with unanimous respect.
BeatonHauff - Was he really robbed against Daley? Can't say I've watched that fight.
from what i remember, he clearly outgrappled Daley for the first two rounds, and then Daley landed some good strikes in the third. not terribly memorable, but i remember being annoyed that masvidal was robbed.
He should fight Josh Thompson next.
One of my favourites to watch, clean calm striking combos, tight subtle footwork and the heart of a lion. I think a lot of people were very high on Cruickshank and that fight hopefully showed them whats up.

I thought the Khabilov fight could've went either way too, pretty impressive outing if you compare how much trouble even Bendo had in the first three rounds against Rustam. Cerrone-Masvidal 5 round main event, yes sir.
His fights with one of Kimbo's guys were entertaining. Agree he deserves more credit. Give him a top ten ranked opponent and he'll show his best.
i think his fight against daley was at 170. i thought he won that fight too!
