Who knows? I’ve been here a long time, and remember different jabs at Fury over the years.
I think there are several stories about Fury. This one with Joe might be the original version with several variations…or it could be one of several different stories.
With respect to punching: There was one story in particular where I believe Matt was doing a seminar at some Relson affiliate or at Steve Maxwell’s old place (Maxercise) where the “punch” in the face happened. If I recall correctly, Matt conducted this particular seminar while wearing his Shuai Jiao jacket/uniform.
The gist of things is that Fury’s grappling partner (a blue or purple belt at the time) got in a choke, and Fury then punched the guy in the face and said something to the effect "I don’t tap to chokes.
Fury ended up posting about the experience in one of his “farmer burns” advertising/product websites where he described the event as having the blue/purple belt “tapping like a typewriter.” There was a lot of back and forth online about the truth of his description…Fury ended up changing the story online with a disclaimer that "he changed the story to protect relationships and feelings, but everyone there knows the truth about what happened.
“I heard an even better story of the time Tim Lacjik and Eugene Jackson went to a friend’s gym to roll with Matt and a student of his. Matt and his student show up and Eugene and Tim take turns rolling with the student and manhandling him. When it’s Matt’s turn to go, he says he has to get his mouthpiece from the car and never comes back. They finally realize that he drove off without telling anyone and left his student behind.”
Tim told me this exact story when he visited us in Maine many years ago. He certainly wasn’t boasting about it, he was a bit bewildered by Fury’s hasty escape!
There used to be monthly Matt Furey threads here back in the day. Before social media, he somehow marketed his BS very effectively online to the MMA crowd, even though every thread was about what a fraud he is.
Matt Furey used to post (probably still does) under different forums with different names hawking his stuff. He'd have contests on his forum and give himself his own stuff. that's what gives off the sociopathic vibe, there seems to be little conception of basic right and wrong. When he had his meltdown here it was quite eye-opening. Mad as a hatter was the vibe rolling off his stream of consciousness vulgarities, a black out curtain descending and effectively covering everything sane in its dark embrace. with each post floating farther and farther out into the sea of insanity.

Wrestling is a workman’s sport, you need no expensive equipment and can practice it anywhere, and here is this greedy, fat no good misfit charging them all this money for nothing. I never took one cent from a boy to show him how to wrestle, all I asked for is guts. I can make you strong, fast, agile and train you for endurance and reflex, but guts you get when you are born.

Karl omce said that he would not teach anyone any Catch until after they did a year of conditioning with him. Yet Matt claimed to have learned a lot from Karl in a few months. BS.
