At the fight in Cinci he said the crowd cheered so loud for him he could actually feel the vibrations in the arena. He was almost in tears... I tend to believe him more than the OP about how and what he experiences.

He deaf not retarded. When thousands of people are standing with there mouths open and hands raised, he was probably able to conclude they were cheering and thus making noise.

Last year I was calling fights in Brazil and the fan noise was so loud my cellphone was vibrating off the table. You can feel a super intense crown.
