Does anyone have this clip (or a link to it)?
It was posted a lot a few years ago; a small backroom match where Matt
fights a huge football player a taps him after a huge slam.

was gil castillo
gil won fairly easily but that slam looked painful. also i think its funny charles that matt was getting on you knowing that he would be on national tv. like franklin wasn't watching.
Does anyone have the clip? It was always one of my favorite things to show people who had never seen BJJ before. That, and Sap/Nog.
It was Joe Son.

That was Serra ? What am I missing ?
Love that vid. How tall is Gill, 5'8-5'9?
Oh I thought you meant the football player was Gil Castillo. lol don't mind me I only got about 4 hours sleep.
It's impressive, but it may have turned out differently if it wasn't straight grappling, i.e. strikes...

agree 100%, not to take away from gil though

Yeah, Gil would have ko'ed him.
That was sweet!
I know it seems kind of cheap to say "if there was strikes it would of been different" but honestly it is always different when strikes are involved. I remember training at a BJJ school about 10 years ago (approx) I came from a background of wrestling and boxing and had little knowledge of submissions though I held my own. A bjj bluebelt got me in a choke and I tapped and he kind of was a smart ass saying I tapped and all i could think was man if we went all out I would destroy you.
I know what Oiking is saying. Of course they agreed on a set of rules. However, if you put into effect the possiblity of strikes by that football player on Castillo, Castillo could have been overpowered or shelled by some haymakers.
Oiking-I get your point.
Based upon how clueless the guy looked, I'm not convinced that strikes would've made ANY difference in this one.
ttt
with strikes gill woulda been hit a few times and still subbed him
lol with strikes involved Gil would've lit him up. He's a professional fighter, guys, not a football player. Size would play a role if their (fighting) skill was equal or even CLOSE.
"hold that choke on gill"
