I think Almeida's next fight will be most telling. The Yundt fight went too quickly to get a good perspective of where Ricardo was at after the break (all due respect to Ricardo's natural and gifted ability)

I think fight magic number #3 will really show if he is willing to become part of the "modern MMA" evolution, or is content relying on legacy achievements. I'm betting on the former, not the latter. I think he has a style that is missing in todays striker+takedown+gnp standard format. A gross generalization i know, but I hope my point is taken.

The guy really is an exciting fighter to watch and has something I miss that I'm not seeing in the TUF factory, or in what any of the middle american/so.cali-fight camps are putting out.

In conclusion, I am totally and completely on Ricardo Almeida's nuts.

I'm an almeida fan.

I hope he isn't too discouraged by the loss.

Man, Ricardo had a bad night, it happens... his resume shows he is allowed some leeway here IMO

The guy is absolutely top shelf

is this a what if thread also????

Still a huge fan. He looked so different in rd 2 than he did in rd 1. Hopefully he can come back and put together a few more wins.

Always been a big fan. Probably always will be.

I thought he won round 1. Cote won 2 and 3.

He's a badass at BJJ and like Rogan said his striking really has improved but the thing he really needs to work on is Cardio.

He prob would've won if he hadn't gassed. He just kinda stopped doing anything after a while.

I actually thought he jabbed his way to a 10-9 in Rd 3.

He needs to work on his cardio A LOT...

 ttt for professor almeida...

NO STRIKING

No striking, but he outlanded the striker in round 3?

NO CHIN

No chin, but he took Cote's best shots and kept coming?

NO HEART

No heart, but he kept fighting the whole time, trying to finish at the end of the round?

You, sir, are a fucking retard.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Especially with regards to striking. They spent a lot of time talking about the deadliness of Cote's striking. With that being the case, the fight should have never went the distance after Ricardo lost the gas to go for effective takedowns. Cote should've finished him off fairly soon after. To me, Ricardo's jab in the third round demonstated improvement on his part from when he left the fight game.
