Mayorga's New Trainer is .........

Ricardo Mayorga's new trainer is Joel Judah. I got this info from reading http://www.fightnews.com/fitzgerald10.htm. I don't feel like copying and pasting right now. What do you guys think of Joel training Mayorga? Do you think he is the right type of trainer for Mayorga?

Joel Judah??? Uh... he strikes me as more of a cheerleader than a legit trainer, but ok.... We'll see what happens I guess. Besides, it's not as if you'd really try to conventionalize Mayorga too much. You pretty much try to get him focused on defense a little more and keep him in the gym regularly.

It is YOEL not Joel.

Chad, the guy is a former kickboxing champ, had a couple of pro fights, and has worked with his sons Zab and Daniel since they were kids. I would guess that being in those New York gyms for years, he's picked up a few things.

Zab is a gifted athlete and I'd argue that this fact (along with him being left handed) allowed him to get away with a lot of technical flaws throughout his career.

He reminds me a lot of a poor man's RJJ in that he does a lot "wrong" in the ring, but gets away with it most of the time due to his superior reflexes and speed. We'll see what happens as he starts to slow down a bit.

I'm guessing that unless he tightens up his fundamentals, he'll suffer a few KO losses as his chin doesn't seem too sturdy.

Sure Zab is gifted, but I am sure his dad has tried to correct his habits. No trainer would tell their fighter that it is okay to throw punches with your chin sticking out or drop your hands or bring them back low regardless of their quickness.

Yoel has also worked with Daniel and the kid that fought Bojado on NBC. I wouldn't judge him as a trainer based on Zab's flaws, because a lot of times fighters simply do what they want.

If Yoel was not much of a trainer, Don King and Bobby Goodman would not entrust Mayorga to him.

"If Yoel was not much of a trainer, Don King and Bobby Goodman would not entrust Mayorga to him."

Bwahahaha.... You're kidding right? Do the names Aaron Snowell, Jay Bright, and Carl King mean anything to you? These are some of the stellar (ahem) trainers that Don has entrusted some of his superstars to in the past lol.

Remember those idiots pressing a condom filled with cold water against Mike Tyson's swollen eye in Tokyo? If he'd shortchange on trainers with the biggest name in the sport, what makes you doubt for a minute that he wouldn't do that with Mayorga?

"Bwahahaha.... You're kidding right? Do the names Aaron Snowell, Jay Bright, and Carl King mean anything to you? These are some of the stellar (ahem) trainers that Don has entrusted some of his superstars to in the past lol."

Don King has tried to use Richie Giachetti, Jesse Reid, and others with Tyson. Tyson was a headcase. nuff said.

Aaron Snowell is actually a pretty respected trainer. He apprenticed in Philly under Slim Jim Robinson. Carl King is a manager not a trainer. No excuses for not having an endswell, they were overconfident and unprepared. inexcusable.

DK has already tried to hook Mayorga up with Emmanuel Steward, but it didnt work out. Yoel Judah has been working with pro fighters for years.

Rogie, do you know why did it not work out between Emmanual Stewart and Mayorga?

I would love to see Zab and mayorga spar. There must be some crazy swinging going on if that happens.

Zab Judah would box circles around Mayorga.
