Mayweather and Cotto sign the contract

Cotto has trouble with pressure fighters and volume punchers. Floyd isn't busy enough, aggressive enough and doesn't punch hard enough to scare Cotto. Styles make fights and Floyd's style is easier on Cotto than Manny's. Don't get me wrong, I expect Floyd to win but think it will be tougher than expected.

Conversely, I think Bradley's a good fighter but his style plays into Manny's strengths. Floyd squeeks out a tougher than expected decision over a "shot" fighter that Manny destroyed and Pacquiao KO's a young, hungry fighter in exciting fashion. I don't see the upside to this for Floyd. He wins, so what?... He's supposed to. Phone Post

I actually believe Tim has the right style for Pac....Manny needs separation to work and move in and out and turn his opponents...Bradley loves to smother his opponents and works well on the inside, Manny isn't a very good inside fighter...he jumps in with awkward angles and punches...if Tim can land on the inside and tie him up, he'll give him fits...

Floyd hits plenty hard, it's the punches you don't see coming that hurt and frustrate you as the fight wears on, and let's not forget Cotto cuts a lot, so that plays in as well...Floyd can say he beat Cotto at a stronger weight, he'll draw more which will give him, sigh, the upper hand in the 100th round of negotiations with Manny lol...

Enigmatic - He will fight Miguel Cotto at 154lbs but not Sergio Martinez at 150lbs? Duckers got to duck.
Lmao Floyd's not ducking Sergio... I'm a big fan of Maravilla and there would be no way for him to fight March against Macklin and then cut to 150 to fight Floyd in May
LOL dude read his post again. Why is he making Martinez cut down to 150 if he's willing to fight Cotto at 154?

I'm pretty sure he read it correctly, he's saying he wont fight Sergio even at 150, when in fact that's impossible to do since Sergio is fighting in March...

You think Sergio wouldn't cancel his fight in March to fight Mayweather at 154 in May? He would jump at that opportunity. It's getting down to 150 that would take some time to do properly.

he's already been training for a MW fight, means he'll have to stop training for Macklin, to train for Floyd within a few months and then lose 6 pounds of muscle on top of that lol..

He would have 3+ months to do it. If it were on the table, Sergio would sign the contract right away. No way he would pass up an opportunity like this.

he wouldn't switch training camps right away, he'd burn himself out...they usually slow their camps down a few weeks before the fight...so he'd have around 2 solid months to train and lose the weight, not smart..
He's not huge at 160 if he's saying he can make 150 with time. Anyways that's not the point. Why is Mayweather saying if Martinez can make 150, they can fight, but then with Cotto he can fight him at 154 because he wants Cotto at his best weight?

PrettyBoy - I dont like the fight because Mayweather is going to kill him. But what else do you want him to do Manny and his camp came up with 800 excuses not to fight him. He cant make Manny fight him.
LOL c'mon if Floyd wanted the fight so badly, he'd agree to a 50/50 split, which is fair.

Besides, you think it's a coincidence he calls Manny out after an unspectacular performance against Marquez?

Manny said he'd take a smaller cut, Bob said 50/50 now Koncz said 55/45, which is it?
Who knows what is really going on. You hear something different every day. I do believe 50/50 is fair. I'd agree that Arum and Koncz are no good in terms of making the fight happen. I am just saying Mayweather is NOT dying to make the fight happen with Pacquiao either.

both have ego issues, no doubt...but Bob and Kunt is really making things worse with their excuses...

and Still, like I mentioned earlier, Sergio has re-hydrated to over 168 in some recent fights, he makes 160 fine, also made a comment of fighting Andre Ward at a catch weight lol...who knows why Floyd made the comment, remember this was said while he was already negotiating with Cotto...I'd like to see Floyd challenge Sergio before both retire at JMW or maybe even MW.

I'm gonna say the same thing I said in the other thread. I hope Cotto lands a liver shot that leaves Floyd a heaping mess up facial distortion on the canvas. I hope it is so ugly and pathetic that it makes top ten highlight reels on various sports networks for decades to come and seriously diminishes Mayweather's earning power for ever. Fuck Floyd and Fuck Manny and Fuck Bob!! Fuck them all, and fuck the money I hope they never generate which could have been had at a more sensible time!

that's not nice Sgot lol

Mayweather doesn't fight anyone in their prime. It's his M.O. Guys a calculated, super talented coward.
To be fair, the guy has enough money now, he doesn't have to take risks. He isn't fighting to prove anything other then he is an arrogant asshole who likes money.

Some people partake in their particular sport to test themselves against the best, to rise to the challenge, to achieve excellence. Floyd has never and will never do any of those things. This is why there will always be cloud over his legacy as a fighter. He's rich, good for him. I actually think he's the best boxer on the planet but he has no heart or warrior spirit, that's why he cheap shotted his way out of his last fight and only fights A list boxers many years removed from their primes.

TR wanted nothing to do with Mayweather-Cotto at 140

Shane wanted nothing to do with Floyd when he was the man at 135 and Floyd was handling business at 130, Shane opted to fight De La Hoya, for the lucrative pay...I don't blame him...Floyd's fought some very good fighters...and retiring when 147 was getting hot, didn't sit well with some, but to say he's done this his whole career is ignorant...

there's been a lot of fights that happened later in fighters careers, don't just sit and point all the blame on Floyd, it goes both ways...

Cotto has a legitimate shot here, I'm looking forward to seeing this.

sin_tax - The only reason he is willing to fight Cotto now is because Margo and Pacman already whooped him soundly.

Margos fight was with illegal wraps dummy, and the pac fight is a totally different style match-up.
