Mazzagatti is so bad

Expected outcome. Ronda is a top Olympic Athlete, and these girls are basically amateurs compared to her. If not at 0:25, it would haven been over with a broken arm at 0:30. That arm was hyper-extended severely so she wasn't going anywhere.

They need to give her more serious competition, not sure who though.

That was a bad stoppage.

Neckofleather - She verbally tapped. During the fighters meeting all fighters are explained that Rule 13B (Any verbal voicing of pain will be considered a submission) will be enforced strictly. After the verbal tap she released the hold and Maz stopped it. However Maz seemed like he wasn't even sure why he stopped the fight. The ref should have absolute control in the cage and this man NEVER does.

epic first post

that was a shitty stoppage by mazzagatti reguardless of whether rousey said anything or not. if he didnt hear her yelling tap, then he shouldnt have stopped it :/ isnt that the rule? or unless he sees the arm break?

yeah that was a dumb stoppage from mazzagatti

Seemed like a verbal tap...that Mazzagatti missed and stopped it regardless.

Her explanation of "i didn't tap, i was saying arrrggh arrrgghhh" seemed kind of suss.

Well if she said ahh or whatever, then the fight should have been stopped at that point. If Mazzigatti missed it, then that means it should have been stopped sooner. So regardless of whether Mazzigatti is incompetent, the fight should have been stopped, so it's a good stoppage or at worst a late stoppage.

Right?

yes,

Actually, the fight should have been stopped sooner.

.

I hate to be an Asshole, but what are you dudes talking about?

if she said "AAAHHHHH" and they stopped it then we should stop a fight any time someone voices pain.

DSaint -  I love it when you idiots rush to post without reading through the thread first.
You're an imbecile for assuming people didn't read the post you quoted before you posted your useless, asinine comment.

Has he ever reffed a Stevenson fight?  He'd think Joe tapped every time he throws a punch.

Neckofleather is correct. She has no legitimate reason to complain about the stoppage. If you yell in pain, that's as good as a tap. It looked bad b/c of Steve's hesitation, but it was ultimately the right call. It's a shame too b/c it takes away from a nice setup/finish.

correct, I don't think Maz heard anything... he was just taking Rondas word for it.

U can't say she was gonna tap anyway just based on what position her arm was contorted I.E the Kimura GSP put on Hardy would have made me scream but didn't do shit to him. I'f a fighter is not gonna tap and have there arm broken that's there choice.

Looked at the replay and it looks like she was tapping, small repetitive taps. Looks like she learned to tap from Chael! Phone Post

She should've admitted that she verbally tapped.

Her excuse was bullshit imo

Aarrrr!

i hope she didnt pull a mike russow and lie about tapping. her "aaah" explaination was suspect as hell, fuck it, let them rematch so it can be snapped next time.

mazzy is 1 bad call from hitting cecil peoples status.

Got not problem with the verbal tap stoppage. She was outclassed and going nowhere, destroying her arm does little good.

Got a problem with Maz's half-assed way of stopping it though. One of my biggest pet peeves in sports is a ref who looks like he's flipping a quarter before making a call.

Right or wrong, if you make a call, make it confidently. Hesitate, and it makes everybody question the call even if you get it right.

And with combat sports, could get somebody seriously hurt with those "Uh...maybe...maybe not....ok stop" moments.
