I am voting for this man.
I am typically democratic by vote but I am not swayed easily by prose, by speech that reaches the heart. I'm more interested in what a leader says he will do with facts to back it up.
Obama and Hillary and the rest remind me a lot of George Bush in that George Bush spoke to voter's hearts, talking about how he would commit change. He spoke with passion but with very little fact on how exactly he will commit these changes... A lot of the candidates fit this bill, but I don't believe that McCain does.
I also like McCain because he isn't being backed by million dollar businesses donating money, and other interest groups. His campaign has become very grass roots, almost on the level of that crazy bastard Ron Paul. McCain is going foot to foot, city to city. Hell, his campaign almost went broke completely. People abandoned him, but he never gave up. And that paid off, because he took the NH primary. (The first one doesnt count because religious nuts will always vote for the most religious nut out and thats huckabee)
The other candidates are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars from interest groups, from businesses... who do you think those candidates policies will be shaped by in the future no matter what they say?
McCain may say some things that aren't popular, but he is honest. He isn't speaking what he feels will get him elected like many other candidates, and do something else... his policies are shaped by what he thinks will really assist this country, and he will try his best to follow threw with what he says.
I believe that this man honestly wants to help our country, vs. helping whoever paid him into getting into office.
Some people won't vote for him not matter what because of his stance on Iraq. Those people want troops out now without thinking of the consequences of what that would cause.
Iraq was a horrible idea. It was wrong, it was immoral, and it was one of the worst acts I believe that this country has committed to another country in the history of America... but pulling out will be much much worse, and much more evil. Pulling out without leaving a stable government will cause a power vacuum that will more than likely be filled by an emboldened Iran... a country with a proven history of terrorism against Americans.
Some disagree and look to Vietnam as an example...
But Iraq is nothing like Vietnam. The histories of both countries are about as far apart as the sun is from ice. Iraq will not become a peaceful country with a stable government without American assistance. The country has far too many natural resources and too many power hungry religious dictators surround it wanting a piece of that wealth. And if we do pull out... those leaders will fight it out over the remains of a country that would be left in a civil war. Hundreds of thousands would die, and the end result is too horrible to contemplate.
McCain knows this, and that's why one of his policies would be to see the war threw till Iraq stabilizes. It's not a popular belief, but it is a factual one. McCain knows the horrors of war. He wouldn't glorify it like some leaders would, because he knows it. Hell he was a POW in Vietnam... one of the worst things any human being could ever go threw.
Anyway I'm rambling, but I am voting for McCain. He is an honest man, a stand up guy, his policies on our economy are on spot, and he is a realist in what it will really take to ensure our country is safe.
Cheers!
Mike
