UFC featherweight Conor McGregor recently appeared on UFC Tonight, and discussed his highly anticipated fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 178 on September 27, 2014 in Vegas.

"Notorious" has received unprecedented media coverage given his division and ranking, drawing criticism from a number of fellow featherweights.
“For me it’s all these little featherweights who are crying like girls," said McGregor as transcribed by Dana Becker for fiveouncesofpain. ‘Why is he getting the headliner in his hometown? Why is he getting on the best card of the year?’
“For me, I’m in shape 24/7, 365 days a year, and I show up for fights. I don’t freeze, I come forward and I put people away. I know myself and they know who the new king is. There’s a new king in town.”
McGregor was practically kind about Poirier.
“I have nothing against him," he said. "He’s a nice, humble hillbilly kid from a back town, but I have nothing against the guy. He has nothing for me. Coming against me, it’s not going to be a good night for him.
“When he wakes up with his nose plastered on the other side of his face, he’ll realize this is the next level guy. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what they think.”
“It’s on to Vegas, Dustin Poirier and I’ll put him away in one round and move on the crusade of eliminating this whole featherweight division one-by-one."
I've played sports my whole life, so I understand talking yourself up and giving yourself confidence. However, I'd never say this shit in public because if you lose, you look like an idiot.

Just my opinion.
What like Money Mayweather.
We need personality in MMA. Especially in the lower weights. Fantastic studs like Aldo, Bermudez, Mendez, Edgar just haven't generates the interest from even hardcore fans over past few years sadly.
Not saying there's anything wrong with it. I loved when Chael did it, but Chael was the master of trash talk. To me, Connor doesn't come close.
He's got a right to have all the confidence in the world. Me personally though, I wouldn't say shit like this because I think I'd sound like an idiot if I lost.
Can't wait for Poirier to beat the hype out of this guy.
You don't find Conor funny? I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Personally, I find Chael to be like an actor. All of his stuff is bullshit. McGregor on the other hand seems like he genuinely believes in himself and wants to tell the world how good he is. He may be wrong, but he believes what he says and he doesn't seem like he's putting on a show.

Chael is master. Nobody will ever do it like he did sadly...RIP Chael

I have to agree with you. Must be an American thing, the WWE schtick doesn't work for me, Bisping and Conor have much better banter.
